Anybody loving #FerrellTakesTheField? Saw that yesterday. He played for a bunch of teams for one inning. Is this footage for a movie he's filming or something? IIRC, it's for an HBO special which was raising money for Stand Up 2 Cancer.

Dontrelle Willis has decided to retire from baseball.
After those 3 good years just went downhill for him

I was the one who thought it'd be better if Jackie Moon suited up for the Bulls; at least you'd get a good halftime show. I'm not a big Ferrell fan, but he had fun and I enjoyed it, especially the epic entrance at the White Sox-Giants game in the helicopter to "Don't Fear The Reaper".

So how are the Cubs going to figure out how to suck this year?

So how are the Cubs going to figure out how to suck this year? Every hitter of theirs becomes a strikeout machine by week 3.

Zack Wheeler has a torn UCL. Will most likely need Tommy John surgery. (Heavy sigh.) Downside: Wheeler coming in to his own in the second half last season was key in building anticipation for the rotation this season, since his ceiling is higher than any other option the Mets have for his spot in 2015 (some of the prospects might wind up better, but it's obviously silly to assume they can step in and immediately have Jacob deGrom rookie campaigns). That type of upside is necessary for the Mets to have a dominant rotation this year, as opposed to just a very good one. Upside: The Mets actually have depth, and it'll be time for Thor, Montero, and Matz to all step up before you know it. So at least the replacement options are better this time around.

Sucks about Wheeler. I was excited to see what he could do this year. I wish him a healthy recovery.
I'm glad the Mets have some depth, though.

Baseball planning on scheduling the last game of the season to where everybody starts at the same time. I'm in favor of this. No more lame duck batting champions sitting out the last game unless he's up by 40 points. Strategy plays a big role for teams in the playoff hunt. Do I start my ace? What if we win, then what? Lot of interesting factors...and a lot of scoreboard watching.
