So Brian Cashman wants the Yankees captaincy to retire with Derek Jeter What a dumb idea Not just idiotic, but patently insulting given their history. Ruth or Gehrig? Keep on pickin' Captains. Munson? No biggie. But no one can top Jeter.

Apparently we all missed whenever it was that Jeter cured cancer and invented a time machine. On the great side of news, the Mets have their first televised game today (vs. Detroit), and Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard will both be pitching. I'll be catching the replay at 6, for sure.

Should the Yankees retire the captaincy after Jeter? No
Should there be a captain for this team? No....and I am disparaging the current team because no one on that organization has the combined seniority, talent, and maturity needed to be a captain.

Yeah, I don't think there needs to be a captain on this team until one shows himself to be worthy of the title. But retiring the concept of a captain because of Jeter is ridiculous. The only previous times it was retired were because of the tragic deaths of two people who held it, Lou Gehrig and Thurman Munson. Retiring it because Jeter played a full, storied career and (hopefully) has a long life ahead of him is an insult and mockery to those two men's memories

As someone who only started watching a few weeks into the regular season last year, should I care about Spring Training?

As someone who only started watching a few weeks into the regular season last year, should I care about Spring Training? Hope no one gets hurt and maybe a pitcher shows off a new pitch. That's the major points really.

Anybody loving #FerrellTakesTheField? Saw that yesterday. He played for a bunch of teams for one inning. Is this footage for a movie he's filming or something?
