it sounds as if Strasburg is hurt again Wouldn't be terribly shocking, he hasn't quite seemed himself this season...unless it's something that came out of nowhere, in which case feel free to ignore my no-medical-training-having BS. How close is Giolito for them?

For the other New York team, Michael Pineda pitches an 8 inning shutout and leaves with a 6-0 lead. And then Girardi angrily puts in Miller for the last out because Carpenter gave up 3 runs and left men on base.
Also, Toronto's home run noise being a hockey goal horn is so very Canadian.

The Giants are somehow now 1 game above .500
Without Pence. Without Cain. With the worst player in baseball at 3rd base.
I thought they were dead in the water after the 8 game losing streak, but I'm getting cautiously optimistic they won't lose 90+ games like I predicted. Still not expecting to be fighting for first, but around .500 works with this roster.

There's a big part of me that thinks they're going to finish ahead of the Padres; San Diego had the flashy offseason, but traded just about any depth they had, leading to a very Omar Minaya-esque roster construction (and I think Omar works there now, so whaddaya know). The Giants always look like they're being held together by duct tape and spit, but by some voodoo they usually make it work for them.

The good news is that the Mets are now 18-10 going into a series against Philly. Can't complain at all about that. Awesome to see deGrom get 7 solid innings in and look more like himself than he has the past couple of games.
The bad news is that tonight, in a 5-1 game, Terry Collins again decides to only use Carlos Torres, Alex Torres, and Jeurys Familia out of the bullpen. I've tried giving Terry the benefit of the doubt thus far this year, as even during their 11 game winning streak the Mets were in a lot of close games, but there are young, high-upside guys in the Mets bullpen like Hansel Robles and older, mostly solid guys like Buddy Carlyle that he literally hasn't put in a game in over a week.
Meanwhile, the two Torres' and Familia are throwing enough that I'm terrified what their arms are going to be like come July/August. Hell, he was doing this when the Mets were still running with an 8-man bullpen! How do you not get the message from that?!
Seriously, Collins is making me dread this, because he's proving he has no concept whatsoever of how to manage a bullpen. Sandy Alderson needs to call him in for a meeting on this or something and slap him over the head with a common sense brick.

Carlos Rodon will start a game against the Reds this weekend, as Jeff Samardzija has dropped his appeal and will serve his suspension for brawling with the Royals last week.
Sox took 2-of-3 against Detroit, even though they lost yesterday 4-1. It's a step in the right direction.
