Or somewhere near by. For my next vacation. I loved New Orleans when WM brought me there for my first major trip.

Cleveland: If you want somewhere self-deprecating, cheap, and full of sadness. Millions of Texans can't be wrong in going to lake Erie every year.

It'd be easier to sell you my home town than get you to like it.

St. Louis: Great parks, good medical schools, Cardinals baseball, beer, riverboats and now a social justice hub thanks to one dumbass cop.

We have awesome food! Especially seafood. My username comes from the local favorite- grilled cheese sandwich with crab. Also, we have many cool museums, of which are in the Inner Harbor area, which is a nice tourist trap (stay away from the shop called "ITSUGAR". It's every favorite candy known to man, super-sized). Charles Street has got some fantastic sushi (also fantastically bad- best read up on Yelp before going) and Indian food. Also, once you have Royal Farms chicken, Chik Fil A and KFC will be dead to you. And cupcakes- we're big on cupcakes.
Sure, there's a little crime *snorts in withheld laughter* but and long as you don't wander around stupid, you'll be okay.

Also: Little Italy's food holds its own to the Italian food I've had in Boston and NYC. The Jewish delis are spectacular. For Greek food, Samos is a superb choice. The crime's not bad if you stay out of the bad neighborhoods. Probably the biggest difficulty for newcomers to Baltimore is that we don't have bad neighborhoods cordoned off from good ones (i.e. Boston) and they can be pretty close nearby. On the other hand, unlike NYC, we don't have hordes of petty criminals roaming around all the tourist destinations.

Wallback, West Virginia - We have a post office. We have a lake. There are some trees. I'm pretty sure someone around here owns a 1981 Chevrolet Chevette hatchback.

I grew up in Hamtramck, which is essentially Detroit. Not exactly a tourist destination, though Detroit does have some nice things. I don't think it can honestly be recommended over most other tourist destinations.
I live in Chicago, which speaks for itself. If you choose Chicago, all of the major museums are amazing, as are the Shedd Aquarium and Lincoln Park Zoo. Highly recommend an Architecture river cruise (though in the current weather conditions, this may be ill advised if they run at all). The CityPass is worth it if you visit enough of the things on it.
