The MCU needs to get a little dark. I love this age of comic book movies, and I think the audience is too big for it to ever go away. But I feel that Marvel is in a loop of just creating the same movie over and over again. The first Iron Man was so good because it had a dark moment or two. Since then, like a dozen people have died and comeback. Between how radically different Ant-Man and Winter Soldier were, no they're not. In fact, I really hope they keep putting out movies like the former in order to balance out the upcoming darker storylines- you can up the stakes, but the MCU has been mostly successful because of its variety, not because they adhere to one specific formula.

They're steadily developing a rep for being safe and childish.

Are we really going to start pushing for the same "everything is too kiddie, we must be edgy and dark" sentiment that plagues wrestling fandom nowadays? I really hope that's not happening.

Some movies have been different, but most are light hearted ones, that feature the world being in danger, someone making a smart ass quip in a big fight, someone dying and coming back, and everything be solved by the end.

He's not exactly wrong though. That seems to be a consistent complaint regarding the MCU that there isn't any sense of dread, consequences, or serious deaths that actually stick. To be fair within the same argument no one should be expecting characters like Stark, Rogers(depending on how Civil War plays out), Romanoff, Barton, or Thor to be biting the bullet early. But I definitely think Marvel needs to be a little more darker and not necessarily edgy per se; however, now we're getting into the more serious and darker storylines they can go into a much more different direction in terms of tone, atmosphere, and storylines.

The lighter tone of the MCU doesn't bother me as much probably because we've seen both of the extremes already in comic book films. None of the Marvel films to date have felt as inconsequential as Batman and Robin or Fox's F4 films, and while I don't dislike Watchmen, Disney will never push their superfilms to that point so I pray that's not what fans are hoping for. To me the MCU films are "just right" and even a bit old school, very close to a typical classic comic you'd pick up in maybe the 70s or early 80s before Miller's influence became so pronounced. It's refreshing after that period in the 90s and early 2000s where so many comic movies felt fairly dreary. I don't mind the stakes getting bigger or the stories becoming heavier, but hopefully Marvel won't try to out-Snyder Snyder in the process.

A few hours ago, a slightly updated version of Marvel's Captain America: Civil War trailer was played at the Asia Pop ComicCon and just like the D23 Expo trailer that came before it, this new cut of the trailer was also well-received, so well-received in fact, that it was played twice for the audience.
According to a variety of individuals present, there was not much that differentiated this new cut of the trailer from the previous one, many claiming it was just the D23 trailer, but a few Twitter users have posted rough descriptions of a few reportedly new/extended scenes, which included:
Iron Man fighting both Captain America and the Winter Soldier. Iron Man throwing Cap, but not seeing Bucky and then getting subsequently punched in the face. This is probably a misdirection, but Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow is apparently the rumored double agent and it sounds like she doublecrosses Cap. She is shown reporting to the government, including General Ross and Tony Stark, before her showdown with Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye. More of the Black Widow/Hawkeye fight; Natasha looks to be in bad shape after Clint delivers a big blow Vision fighting both Falcon & Scarlet Witch. More of the scene where Ant-Man thanks Cap for letting him be a part of the team. This time, Scott apparently pulls a Peggy and touches Steve's pecs to feel how big/firm they are at some point during the conversation. Daniel Brühl's Baron Zemo makes an appearance. Steve and Bucky hugging it out

Oh my god. I can already tell the Avengers are WAY better off in the hands of the Russo brothers. I'm still picking my jaw up from the floor.

And they doing a good job of hiding Spidey I have this feeling he's going to be approached by both sides and refuse to join, and be the voice of reason between the warring sides.

I like how they're sticking with the more grounded, political thriller air from Winter Soldier. And that exchange at the end pulls all the right heartstrings.
I'm guessing they're saving Spider-Man and Baron Zemo for the final wave of advertisements, like they did with the Vision for Age of Ultron.
