Here is where you post a movie title and ask others why it's a bad movie.
I'll start with Howard the Duck. I f'n love it, must have seen it 30 times, which is more than I can say about Kick Ass, my favorite modern comic movie.

Constantine.
I'm not saying it was amazing, but as a movie everything worked. I'm not asking why it failed to adapt a comic book properly, but just as a stand alone film.

I completely embraced the absurdity of Howard the Duck and that made most of the flaws turn into enjoyable quirks. I also understand people that hated the movie because of it's absurdity and many flaws. It's such a fantastic piece of shit. Kinda like Krull and Troll 2
With that said, I love Krull.

The Wizard. Is it a blatant Nintendo commercial? Yes? Did they get the facts wrong about Nintendo games? Yes? Is it a fun movie? Definitely, all the cast look like theyre enjoying themselves, and it just has a feel good vibe to it. Plus, you get deliciously hammy lines like "HE TOUCHED MY BREAST!" "I love the Power Glove, its so bad" and "Ninja Gai-DEN!"

See all the movies mentioned so far I enjoyed. For my addition, Battleship. Sure it is a bad concept, a movie based on a board game. But it is a fun little generic action film.

That movie DISGRACED the game Battleship. It took everything important and meaningful about Battleship and made POINTLESS changes when they adapted it. I can't wait til Milton Bradley gets the rights back so they can make a REAL movie adaptation.

The main reason why (IMHO) Howard the Suck and Constantine are/were considered to be "so bad" is a matter of poor adaptation. The properties are HARD to adapt, with Howard being a subversive, politically satirical comic series that was for (im)mature audiences. The Pulp nature and (usually) magazine and black & white format made it seem more like the underground "Comix" of R. Crumb and The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. While both were also adapted in time, a "Rock-and-Roll" adventure was not the way to do it.
With Constantine, it was much the same.....The adaptation had little to do with the source material. Apparently the original cut had MORE to do with it (As evidenced by the novelization), but in editing it to be a "Keanu Reeves action movie" much of the world-building and such was cut out.

Mortal Kombat.
Frankly, I loved the original movie. It had its cheesy moments, but for a video game adaptation, I don't think it was that bad.
Plus Christopher Lambert as Raiden was awesome.

I thought everyone loved the first one, and the second is the bad one. For the record, I love both. The first is cheesy good fun, the second is so bad it's good.

Yeah, the first one is generally regarded as a good movie. It was received well by critics and is considered the best video-game-turned-movie. Gene Siskel wrote a glowing review of it and even got into an intense spat with Ebert over it.

I actually enjoyed the second one as well. But they killed off Johnny Cage 5 minutes in. So that kinda sucked the fun out of it.

Velvet Goldmine.
There are plenty of problems with it, characters just come and go without getting much development (I'm looking at you, Jack Fairy) and the narrative is sloppy. But I like it for shallow reasons, admittedly- it looks amazing, the acting is decent and the music's awesome. I even liked Rhys Meyer's numbers.

Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth I enjoyed this one but fans seem to hate it first 2 were great part 3 was just as good everything after 3 besides Hellraiser:Inferno has been terrible in my opinion. I think the main problem was that it did seem to be more typical slasher movie fare rather than the more experimental style of the first two. Rather than the Cenobites being amoral 'angels to some, demons to others' with the own logic and agenda, Pinhead was just the out and out bad guy, even if it was by affixing the 'unbound' label. But like you say, better than anything that came after, although Bloodlines had potential before the studios butchered it.
