Looking forward to watching Nakamura/Lethal vs reDragon
Pretty cool night of wrestling. NXT was a phenomenal show and from what I've read/heard it seems like ROH knocked it out of the park as well (no pun intended). Awesome to be able to have this much quality wrestling available in one night.
Also ROH drawing 2000 when NXT sold out the Barclay Center is pretty damn impressive.

So I just got back from Field of Honor. It was a fun show despite some dodgy booking decision. Seriously, you have one guy holding both of your only singles titles, why would you book him in a tag match with none of the titles on the line?
It was the beautiful night for the show. All week we've had either rain or muggy heat in the city, but tonight was perfect, no rain, no humidity, not too hot. Despite competition from the NXT show I think the crowd was actually larger this year then last year, so good for ROH. There must be a lot of wrestling fans in the city this weekend.
Will Ferrara beat somebody I didn't recognize or catch the name of in a dark match.
The opener between Cole and Daniels was an awesome match, but another one of those dodgy booking decisions. Why are you putting your tag champs in singles competition when none of your singles titles are on the line tonight? Daniels was wearing his Col. Klink outfit again. He really needs a monocle to pull the look off.
The crowd was really into the Gauntlet Match for the most part, with Moose, Bushwhacker Luke and especially Dalton Castle being the most over. I'd seriously suggest the WWE look into picking up Castle but I don't think Vince would get the gimmick. He'd push it so over the top that it would kill the crowds interest in it.
Another dodgy booking decision though as ROH decided to finish the match with the two least over guys. I like Cedric, and especially Veda, but the fans seemed indifferent about his heel turn. And after a year and change of Watanabe jobbing to just about everyone, nobody was buying him as a contender to a title.
Steve Corino called the first few match wearing a cow costume ("The Cow of Honor"). The crowd was split on whether this was funny or stupid. Later on he had a foot race against Cheeseburger in the outfit. Corino sucker punched Cheeseburger at the start to get the early advantage, but Burger got his revenge by tackling Corino and pulling the mask off before crossing the finish line first. Personally I think Corino got screwed. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to get disqualified for pulling the mask off.
The rest of the show were all good matches, but just felt unimportant because of lack of build and no titles on the line. I particularly liked the Briscoes-Time Splitters match. The crowd was really into Shelley.

From watching the tv when Corino's Son turns on BJ the crowd should pop big. one of those classic 80's angle

You really would think Moose would learn after losing to Cedric the previous thirty times via getting hit with that wrench.

Sounds like the NXT show really did a number on the Crowd Not at all. Might have been more people than last year.

...And now for my completely baseless, "black helicopters/Trilateral Commission" level conspiracy theory concerning the ROH/NJPW working relationship. I fully realize that I'm one of the only people who would take the following as a bad thing. So whip out the tin foil hats gang: New Japan doesn't want to work with ROH. They want to buy ROH, ultimately turning them into a half NXT, half DGUA developmental group. It'll keep ROH afloat, but the resulting company won't look anything like it does today. Now if you would excuse me, I'm going to do some research on the Freemasons while listening to Alex Jones. And this would be a bad thing?

Got my tickets for Final Battle. No clue what matches we'd get aside from Whitmer-Corino or Decade-Corinos

You really should do something to make the show feel a little bit more special, having none of your champions defend any titles is not the way to do that.

Wonder if without NXT if it would have been bigger Reportedly, ticket sales for Field of Honor stalled when the NXT show was announced.

Had a great time at the show last night. I got home and watched NXT, which was honestly a better show. However, the ROH show was a lot of fun and I'm glad I was able to see both.
I was talking to some fans at the show and was wondering if anyone can clear up this timeline regarding ROH's bookers?
9/26/09 - Jim Cornette brought in as Executive Producer 8/5/10 - Delirious replaces Adam Pearce as head booker 10/8/12 - Delirious replaces Jim Cornette as head booker
I'm totally confused here. Was Delirious' time as head booker interrupted by a Cornette stint? When did Cornette shift from Executive Producer to head booker? Was Delirious still involved?
I know Cornette loved Davey Richards, who won the belt in June 2011, and hated Kevin Steen, who won the belt in May 2012. I was always under the impression that he booked both these titles reigns though.
Can anyone clarify any of this?

so they can build to All-Star Extravaganza VII (a ppv) where Jay Lethal will defend both the TV title against Bobby Fish and the World title against Kyle O'Reilly That's fine and all, but you're running a show during what's turning into the second biggest pro wrestling weekend of the year directly opposite a WWE show that's a 30 minute subway ride away. You really should do something to make the show feel a little bit more special, having none of your champions defend any titles is not the way to do that. its WWE's second biggest weekend, not pro wrestling's. when you've got people flocking in from all over the world and nearly every major indy trying to run at the exact same time, then it'll be pro wrestling's. also, Field of Honor is a big show, but not a major one, which is why it is smarter to use it to build up to the major show, which is what they did. it makes sense to have Jay Lethal in a tag match against reDRagon since he'll be facing the two of them in separate single matches for his titles at the ppv as for the tag team titles, they could have defended them, but it would have made no difference one way or another in terms of elevating the show, nor would it have helped to elevate anyone in the match. The Addiction defended the titles the night before in a match that was used to set up their match at the ppv, so if they were to defend the titles at Field of Honor it would've been a foregone conclusion that they'd retain, so they'd have to face an expendable team. War Machine they're building up, Sydal & ACH's styles mesh well with the others in the eight-man tag, RPG Vice fit into the eight-man because of the feud between CHAOS & Bullet Club, the Briscoes were in the "international dream match" spot against Time Splitters, so that leaves J. Diesel & Donovan Dijak of House of Truth and Adam Page & Colby Corino of The Decade. are you really upset about not seeing either of those teams challenge for the title? Christopher Daniels vs. Adam Cole plays into the Addiction vs. reDRagon/Future Shock feud, and Frankie Kazarian was used to build up Dalton Castle. it worked a lot better and was more useful than having Addiction beat HOT or The Decade in a squash, or jobbing out War Machine, Sydal/ACH or RPG Vice in a throwaway match.

But it wasn't an ROH pay-per-view, and they have a pay-per-view they have to sell in a month. You need a match where the champ in the ring with both competitors, and what better way than pairing him with one of Japan's top stars for one night only to make it special instead of other HoT members who are on every show? The show needed a New Japan guy in the main event and the champ in the main event, and to progress the storyline. They booked it perfectly.

"It appears that based on his excellent work in the G1 Climax, Michael Elgin will be going back over to New Japan."
Good for Elgin, he busted his tail during the tournament putting out great matches and won the crowd over like Styles did last year.

I just noticed the "with Truth Martini" for the Atlanta show ... which is great because he missed the last one due to some kind of weather/travel issues.
