Or should he stick to being villains, henchmen and sidekicks?
Seems to me he'd have a more successfull career that way.
Only my personal opinion of course.

No, he's great as Drax; but it's because that role plays to his strengths.
He's not carrying a movie.

I think he'd be great as Denzels' friend, not Denzel

You guys act like he hasn't been a leading man already. Perhaps you've heard of a little movie called House of the Rising Sun!??!?! What's that? You haven't. Oh. I guess that explains it then. I think Dave could pull off a leading role, but it'd basically have to be something written specifically for him. Like a comedy that plays to how OTT douchey he can be.

He's fine as a supporting actor.
He's actually fine as a supporting wrestler too. He'll never be THE guy, but he can be one of them.

He will probably end up headlining a Uwe Boll or a Asylum picture.
Yeah good in supporting roles. But might be asking too much of him to lead a major Hollywood picture

I don't think he has the chops to carry a movie. At least not yet.
He's a solid supporting actor tho

He was the best part of Man with the Iron Fists or whatever it was called. That said, like with Drax, it worked because he wasn't THE guy. He's better off as the supporting actor, either as the partner or the challenge to overcome. Not a bad gig.

He's the leading man in a remake of blood sport.

I haven't seen the dude act, honestly, but if he can act, then he can be a leading man. Just have to find the right movie. James Gandolfini isn't exactly a dreamboat and he managed to be a leading man in movies.

Not everyone is a leading man. And a lot of times that's beneficial to them.
Look at Steve Buscemi, he's mostly a supporting actor, and he thrives there.
