My family and I are in a bit of a pickle right now. A couple hours ago, we discovered a big leak in the foundation of our house. There are several spots all scattered around our house that are as wet as a big puddle. There's a wet spot near the door to my room even. I'm really upset, because I don't know if we're going to eventually have to rent a hotel or what. Our house has had some plumbing problems before, but this is the most severe it's gotten. There was one leak some months ago that ran into my mom's room, and she had to have the carpet cut out as a result. There are certain factors that probably lead all up to this, but I don't know.
My mom just a moment ago had to unplug and remove her computer sitting in her room. As if things weren't bad enough, she's still getting over that crappy flu we all had, my aunt is still not speaking to her (so y'all already have your answer for "is there anyone in your family that will help?"); and right now she's getting over a cold that my dad caught and still has because he stupidly didn't think it was bacterial so he has no antibiotic. My mom is very sensitive with medicines because of allergies and due to her having to get radiation on her jaw when she was four (so her mouth is basically very vulnerable to side effects and whatknot). Oh, and because of the house being wet everywhere, and Mom not being able to take care of her with being sick, we're going to have to give up this sweet white lab puppy we got just a couple months ago. My mom said she's going to take her back to the lady we got her from tomorrow. At least she's alive and didn't pass away like our other dog early this year. I'm really going to miss her though.
I had to vent some way, some how. I am still upset at all this garbage hitting us left and right. I hope someone can help me feel better.

I hope things get better for you and your family, and I am very sorry you have to part with the dog.

I wish you and your family the best. I can empathize with some of this.

I know this isn't very helpful, but if it is indeed a cold, antibiotics won't do donkey dick as colds are caused by viruses.

Mom looked into getting us some tiles to replace the carpet, and dad had some plumbing guys come by the house this morning. They said that it was a hot water line that broke. We can use the sinks again, we'll just have to stick with cold water for a while. Dad also has some carpenter guys taking measurements in the house right now so they cut out the affected areas. We're still probably going to have to spend a few nights in hotel. But I'm hoping that we can get the hot water and other stuff fixed, and that it will all just take a week and not a whole month. I don't know yet, though. I hope things get better for you and your family, and I am very sorry you have to part with the dog.
Thank you. My mom talked to the lady she got our dog from. The lady has a friend who will pick her up over the weekend, she owns her sister so at least our dog will get be with part of her family and shouldn't be too lonely. I'm really going to miss her though. Bad enough we had a dog die early this year, but due to circumstances we had to give up two other dogs before this one. Both are being kept by my aunt, and because of the tiff between her and my mother, I have no idea if I'll ever get to see them again.

I hope your aunt can be big enough to realize your family is having problems as it is, and that whatever argument she has with your mom, bigger shit should probably come first. That said, I know it's not always that simple.
I hope your situation can improve soon.

Just got back a bit ago, from giving our dog. The people who took seem nice, they live six hours away. The good thing is, they we can come by and visit her whenever we want. So at least there's that. There's a lot of holes in our carpet. Sometime the tiles get placed, but it will be a while with the plumbing still needing to be fixed. We didn't stay in a hotel last night. We may or not stay in one tonight though. If it weren't for Mom being so vulnerable to certain smells, none of us would have to. I hope your aunt can be big enough to realize your family is having problems as it is, and that whatever argument she has with your mom, bigger shit should probably come first. That said, I know it's not always that simple. I hope your situation can improve soon. I appreciate that, but she doesn't know about the leak or having to give the dog away. When my aunt fought with my mom, a lot of deep seated issues came out. I think most of what she said she didn't mean it, but it was still hurtful to my mother. I mean, yeah I hope somehow she'll realize she was wrong and make up with Mom, but I don't see that happening for a while, if at all. Sometime later I'll go into more detail about it, but not right now. Any words, thoughts, and/or prayers are appreciated.

Have an update with some good news. We got our hot water back on yesterday! Which is good, as I need hot water to make salt water because I'm relapsing a dumb cold I got. Mom called the doctor's office to refill the medicine I was taking. But anyway, I'm thankful I can take showers here at home again instead of a motel room. Now to just see how long until we can get our floors fixed.
A bit of a scary side-note, the plumber who fixed the leak discovered some pipe leaking carbon dioxide in our attic. He thankfully fixed it for us. It had been there since late last year when we had to replace our water heater.... That means for the entire past year, we were all at risk of monoxide poisoning. If not for the leak, we would have never known. So now, I don't feel so bad that it happened when it did.

As much as repairs suck, it sucks less than all of you getting killed.

Something odd but good happened earlier today. When Mom and I were getting done at the store, she got in line to get a lottery ticket. This older gentleman with a mustache who was ahead of her was paying for something, and he had 100$ passed to her! I don't know who he was, but God bless that man. One thing that sucks is that I was going to a New Year's party with a good friend of mine, but he said there are other parties we can go to. At least he said we'll try and see Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies soon.

Time for another update. It took a bit longer than expected, but we've finally moved more stuff out of our living room as well as the bedrooms. My parents got this painter to do the house. All of us like it, the guy was fast and now the house is brighter. If y'all don't see me post much within the next several days, it will be because we're at the motel the insurance company thankfully paid for us. Hopefully, all the re-flooring will just take a few days so we can work on getting our stuff out of storage and back into the house. Its amazing how different you can feel in just a few weeks. When this mess started, I was getting depressed. Now I don't feel bad at all, just eager to have the house back to normal. My mother's been wanting to clean out the house and get the floors redone, and funny enough thanks to the insurance paying for part of this we've finally been able to. Crazy how some things work out.
