Here's the deal-last Christmas I was given a Metallica sweater by a girl I was dating-I posted pics of me wearing it with her and everything-a couple months later, she breaks up with me, and of course, I'm crushed.
After awhile, I get over her (we only dated briefly) and I fell deeply in love with my current girlfriend.
So now that it's Christmas, I'd like to wear the sweater-seriously, it kicks ass!
But, while I am over her, it still was something she gave to me, and I'm not sure.
I know my current girlfriend would recognize it, so what do I do?
I kinda hate to get rid of it, because I really like it and I'm not sure they even make it anymore.
And I kinda feel if I get rid of it, the terrorists win.
So what's the proper protocol when it comes to something like this?

I have clothes my ex gave me. I still wear them. I don't see what the big deal would be.

Btw-not to make it sound like my girlfriend would be pissed off over it, I thought about this as soon as I was dumped-it's just the principle of it-or I'm overthinking things

I keep clothing my exs have given me...unless it's something I'd never actually wear and only wore it occasionally while with them to not make them feel bad about getting me said item of clothing. Then I ditch it as soon as the relationship is over to the Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

OP, I have always wondered if you are the man in your sig? I am guessing that if you're gf is cool with her man having naked ladies on him she'd be cool with a Metallica sweater from an ex.

If you kept it, why not wear it? As long as you're not I prefer to keep their clothes And teeth. As long as you're using both to dress a mannequin to look like them it's totally normal. |

I'd keep it either way, but since it's clearly bothering you, it couldn't hurt to ask your current girlfriend if she's uncomfortable with you wearing it around her. Worst case scenario she'll either say "yes it is" and then give you an honest answer so you can discuss it, or say "no, it's cool" and probably be thankful that you were considerate enough to ask.
