- When R2 is being loaded into Luke's X-Wing, C-3PO says the word "and" before saying "do take good care of yourself." starwars.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_changes_in_Star_Wars_re-releases f*** this shit, "AND" f*** George Lucas!!! Nah, but seriously, who even notices that??? Haven't watched the OT in a while, so I decided on going with a semi Machete order: IV, V, I, II, III, VI. I'm watching ESB right now, & decided to see what all the changes were during breaks, & came across that line above... LOL! Anyway, like I've always said, I enjoy all six movies, & since its been a while, I figured I'd try something new. With that being said, I do not want to turn this into the same old thread. You know, the "bash the PT" thread, or the "bash Lucas for ruining my childhood" thread. Instead, let's keep it light/fun. Feel free to point out funny changes in the link I posted above, or tell me/us the last time you've (semi) marathoned Star Wars, & which movies you actually watch. Hell, I'm just pumped for EP VII, which is why my brain was on Star Wars in the first place!!!

I'm a believer of watching them numerically.
Then again, I am a Sagaist. I see them as one 6 part saga, not two trilogies.

I actually love the line "You're lucky you don't taste very good" I loathe the special editions of the original trilogy. Han shooting Greedo was a character defineing moment. That scene told you everything you needed to know about him. Changing it the way they did would be the Godfather adding a line at the wedding where Michael laments that Sonny will be don and not him. It changed his character which was nearly perfect before. as for the lines I noticed some of them but not all. The entire experience is akin to looking at your favorite painting after someone splashed it with paint. I own them on DVD because you had too to get the original trilogy but I watched them once when they came out in theaters because I was to young to see the real movies that way, but I plan to never see them again.

Screw the "Han shot first" thing, Han was the only one who shot.

I wish they would scrap the Han/Greedo scene entirely and stick to the far superior Han/Jabba scene.
As it is, we get the same exposition twice-- using the exact same lines as well.

I've never been fond of the Jabba/Han scene myself. Even the latter cleaned up DVD version still looks iffy special effect wise, the scene is (as you noted) redundant, and quite frankly Jabba works better as an off screen presence not seen until ROTJ anyway.

The Han/Jabba scene NEVER should have scene the light of day. Jabba as shadowy presence up until Jedi works so much better. Making him a comical figure with the tail stomp etc takes every bit of the threat away.

Imagine you're Jabba, a crime boss who pretty much runs the entire planet who is fast running out of patience with this wise-ass smuggler who owes you money. Said smuggler then makes a load of false promises to you and stands on your tail. Why exactly don't you have him vaporized on the spot?

I'm not a fan of the Special Editions or the Prequels, but the SE's of Star Wars and Empire don't bother me that much....but the SE of Return of the Jedi is an absolute f***ing disgrace. Everything about that one is AWFUL.

I never really understood the whole "Who shot first" bulls***. I mean, Han was faced with a bounty hunter who had come for his head. In that situation, I would've shot first too.
You can go with the whole "Lupin shot first," and I'd be like, "You damn right I did. I wasn't giving that bastard the opportunity to off me."

For me I don't care about who shot first, it's that Lucas' attempts to fix it end up looking like shit. Take the latest version where Han slides slightly to his right without actually moving.

You can go with the whole "Lupin shot first," and I'd be like, "You damn right I did. I wasn't giving that bastard the opportunity to off me." The issue stems from the first revision of the SE where it was changed to Greedo shooting first (and missing). As you said, common sense dictates that Han would have never have given him that opportunity, which was how it played out in the theatrical version (despite Lucas' insistence it was never supposed to be that way). In the DVD revision they changed it to where Han moved his head as Greedo shot, while the BluRay revision changed it even further to where Han and Greedo shoot almost simultaneously. Though I'm with Harrison Ford on this one. When asked on a Reddit AMA who shot first he replied "I don't know, and I don't care."
