I will never understand why they added rocks in front of R2-D2 in Star Wars, but most of the changes don't bother me.

I'm a believer of watching them numerically. Then again, I am a Sagaist. I see them as one 6 part saga, not two trilogies. Ever since I was a kid I wanted a trilogy of trilogies (trilogys? Both look wrong:-/) so I was thrilled when I found out about VII, VIII, & IX! It's been a long time since I've watched the DVD's, but I've watched them whenever Spike aired them. I'm not sure, but I believe they aired all six in a row at least once. I know they would mostly air only one of them at time, usually the prequels. I'm not opposed to watching I-VI in order, I just wanted to try something new. I do know I'm glad I didn't buy the box set a couple years back. I wanted too, but decided to buy the Lion King box set instead. I assume we'll be getting a new box set with all nine movies eventually. Actually, I hope they have a set with everything Disney considers cannon now/at the time of release. f***, that's likely going to be several hundred dollars. I better start saving now!!

I've never been fond of the Jabba/Han scene myself. Even the latter cleaned up DVD version still looks iffy special effect wise, the scene is (as you noted) redundant, and quite frankly Jabba works better as an off screen presence not seen until ROTJ anyway. They removed the tail stepping for the DVD/Blu-Ray. Han still walks behind him, but now steps over the tail.

I wish they would scrap the Han/Greedo scene entirely and stick to the far superior Han/Jabba scene. As it is, we get the same exposition twice-- using the exact same lines as well. Especially since we see Greedo walking down the street a few minutes later. Are you trying to say all Rodians look the same to you... racist -_- The Han/Jabba scene NEVER should have scene the light of day. Jabba as shadowy presence up until Jedi works so much better. Making him a comical figure with the tail stomp etc takes every bit of the threat away. Yeah, I laughed at it when I first saw the SE but ... if I had never seen Jabba before I'd probably not take him seriously after that. I have a feeling the tail stomp was meant to be a joke suggestion since Han walks behind the guy that originally played Jabba... but somehow George didn't get it or left it in because he spent the money to animate the scene

Force Ghost Hayden 's career is an abomination. Fixed. And the infamous Han/Greedo scene ALSO adds an unneeded "Yes", IIRC.

And why in all these decades have they never removed that Storm Trooper banging his head on the door?

And why in all these decades have they never removed that Storm Trooper banging his head on the door? I think it's because the Star Wars movies were inspired by the lighthearted actionmovies of years past, where comedy-spots were frequent. Heck, they even had Jango bang his head as a tribute/explanation for the Stormtrooper doing so.

And Jango bumping his head in AOTC as a further tribute.
