Friend brought this up the other day. I forgot what age I was when I found out the truth

I knew a girl who stopped believing in Santa when she was like 14.

We don't allow such nonsense thought such as Santa not being real on this fine ass forum.

Various ages, really. Not going to derail this into a religion thread, just want to clarify that to me, Jesus is Santa.

When I was young, probably first grade I was goofing around in my parents room and found a street hockey set, complete with the net and everything. Really badass set. I asked them about it and they denied it was for me and said they were holding it for my aunt so my cousin wouldn't see it.
I ended up getting this for Easter a few weeks later. This is when I knew all of those things were lies.

I don't remember what age I was. The joy I had from receiving Santa-given gifts, turned into a joy of donating to various causes, like Toys for Tots, and today I donated some toys that will go to critically ill children. (someone will like that Seth Rollins figure, right? )

i'd say at the earliest 8, at the latest right before puberty. A kid with a mustache shouldn't still believe in Santa.

I still believe I mean, a jolly fat man with a grey beard who will give me a present as long as I sit on his lap and tell him I've been a good boy? Very believable on my end

I'm not gonna go out of my way to sit my son down one year and tell him Santa doesn't exist..... but, since he's 8... I start a feeling out process pretty early to see if he's figured it out yet or not. If not, we go with it.
although, I have decided... even when he figures it out and stops believing... I'm gonna still give him a present on Xmas Day as the Santa gift... which will probably be the uber-blow-your-mind present of the season, as my mom did for me. Made Christmas Eve awesome, but still gave an air of mystery when you went to bed that night for what you'd get the next morning. (Although, granted.. at a certain point, she just started giving the present to me when she went to bed on Xmas eve. lol)

I wouldn't tell my kid. Sidenote when I was a kid My grandma and mom had me leave Christmas Cookies for Santa cookies would be gone and be a $5 doller bill on the plate. Grandfather always ate them and would tell me it was Santa. If I ever have grand Kids would do the same.

I think it's completely fine to believe in Santa and still know what's going on. Christmas is the one holiday where it's okay to believe in things.

when bitter Christmas festivity excluded jewish children like me, tell them the truth. Just kidding never did that, but I did feel a little elite when kids believed while I knew that he wasn't real. I figured it out when I was like 6 or 7.
