I wish him luck but $370k? Damn.
So he'll wrestle for LA Fights if it is funded. Wow

I know that Nigel is trustworthy and that The Last of McGuinness was crowd funded and was incredible however... www.kickstarter.com/projects/790983338/wrestling-revolutionThe same lines have been said before, the same faces appeared promoting it and Jeff Katz hasn't been heard from since 2012. Those people that might be interested in this probally already threw in for WRP to see nothing in return. Once bitten twice shy.

I threw some money in. If it gets funded and made, great. If it doesn't, whatever, at least I did my part.

If Jeff Katz is part of this, f*** that noise. You'll never see your money again.

Katz actually came out of hiding and did a few interviews about what happened with WRP. Apparently he lost everything due to bad investments, but he still has the footage and is planning on releasing it when its finished. What has been released of WRP (main event of the first episode) was terrible, though.

Sorry Nigel, not interested in another "redefining" wrestling promotion.

Having not seen Nigel's documentary, what the deal with why he can't wrestle now?

It does sound exactly like Katz's idea - "let's just make wrestling like Breaking Bad!"
I don't buy that that's what wrestling fans want, I also don't buy that it's easy to just create a Breaking Bad caliber show based around pro wrestling. Breaking Bad was better than 99% of TV shows, you can't just decide to create something like that. Katz's idea of compelling Breaking Bad-style writing was one wrestler calling another a "f****ng fa***t" and that being the big dramatic moment. Katz was no Vince Gilligan, and it turns out he wasn't even an honest businessman. I'm sure Nigel is honest and means well, but I don't know why we should assume he's capable of Vince Gilligan creativity. (or George R. Martin, or whoever else he claims he can write stories like).

Too bad he can't wrestle any more, and work a panhandler gimmick. Could still be a panhandling manager or announcer. "Oi, canya spare some change guvnor, and talk about ya match tonight?"

Over $300K to produce six episodes of a wrestling show, no matter how cutting edge and breakthrough, is ridiculously high. His argument is what it costs to produce an episode of Raw is less than that.
It costs a top independent company like PWG or CHIKARA less than $20,000 to produce an equal number of hours of content with equally skilled workers. C'mon. Money grab. And he's not going to reach the goal, so therefore he will see nothing. Had he set the goal at $50K, he probably would hit it, and still have $30K of that to live off of after paying the expenses of shooting six episodes of a wrestling show that he's going to edit on his laptop.

This sounds like a wrestling promotion by committee of television market researchers.
"We'll combine all the high flyin action and marketability of pro-wrestling, with the hilarious mockumentary style of The Office and the intense drama of Breaking Bad! We'll capitalize on the Trekkies, Bronies, and Twi-hards by synergizing their expectations to make buzzworthy viral content that to create a new paradigm of internet meme! Buzzword!"

Did you see the documentary or are going going on hearsay because, while he did get hep B, it is completely curable and Nigel's reasonings for no longer competing were for a different medical issue.

CHIKARA and PWG are producing independent wrestling shows for dvd, he's trying to produce a television show Noted. Still a minimal number of days of production expenses, except with higher end cameras. Not $300K. A great deal of the Raw expense is the live broadcast and huge touring expense of getting all the equipment and staging to the arena, plus paying major stars, etc. Jeremy Borash has pointed out that he edited British Bootcamp on his laptop with a series of external hard drives, suitable for airing as a television show. Forget the CHIKARA and PWG examples. Subsitute OVW and Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. Both produce television shows. If anyone believes Danny Davis or David Marquez have even $50,000 in production expenses to produce six hours of programming, I've got news for ya. That they need SEVEN TIMES THAT to do what Nigel's talking about is beyond ridiculous. I looked at the Kickstarter description, where it lists that it will take approximately a month to plan and film six hours of programming. Davis and Marquez would laugh in the face of anybody who would claim to them that it takes 30 work days to plan and shoot six episodes of TV content. It can be done in a comfortable seven, if not fewer days. That's assuming they can only actually film 60 minutes in a full day of work, and not film enough matches to cover two episodes in the same evening (something which virtually every wrestling promotion on the planet can easily do, since your average wrestling show is over two hours long). I'd love to see his concept come to fruition. The more options the wrestling fan has to choose between, the better for everyone. It just sucks that it probably won't happen because the dollar amount being asked for is insanely higher than it needs to be to make the project a reality.
