Now before I start, I haven't played this series since the last Enzo game.
This game is an IOS game coming out before the end of the year apparently. My question is, how long can they milk this franchise. If this is released before the end of the year, this will be the 4th Assassins Creed game in 2014. I mean, even COD only does one a year and I felt they were overdoing it a bit with a yearly installment. But this franchise is getting over-saturated.
Just my thoughts. What do you guys think of this Assassins Creed flood of games?
Edit: Apparently this game is already available in Australia for anyone interested.

I feel the same way about AC as I do about COD. As long as they don't monkey around with the basic mechanics too much I don't care if there's one a year or twelve.
That being said, do iOS/Android games really count? They always seem more like limited-scope curiosities than actual franchise entries. As such, I'd consider Rogue and Unity as the only real games this year.

I haven't liked any of the Assassin Creed games so this is more of an in general post... Over-saturation can easily kill a game... see Activison and Guitar Hero (Which pretty much killed a GENRE) However, action games can be milked to hell before people start revolting... they'd also have to show signs that the people behind it are running out of ideas... (for instance Assassin's creed... IN SPACE!) But if they continue to put out ok - good games fans of the series will continue to eat them up... and if all the problems of Unity hasn't scared people off I don't forsee them ditching the series any time soon. (..and if my friend is any indication they are still sold on the series )

They're all for different platforms and formats so I don't really see the problem. What killed Guitar Hero was its oversaturation was for the same platform and the quality of each really suffered as they had one dev studio (Neversoft) make pretty much every game for PS360. Not to mention the expensive peripheral requirements. Ubisoft has a gazillion dev teams working on the AC series and they've been pretty smart about distributing the work.

I'm very honest with myself..... Call Of Duty is a yearly franchise that changes very little, adds a few things here, alters a few things there, then ships it out every year. AC is a yearly franchise that changes very little, adds a few things here, alters a few things there, then ship sit out ever year. I'm tired of Call Of Duty, I eagerly anticipate Assassin's Creed.
Some would say this makes me hypocritical... but, honestly... I suck at FPS games. I really NEED something extremely different to hook me, otherwise I can't stay alive in-game long enough to enjoy the improvements. Hell, if they say "We have a new ultimate kill streak reward" big deal.. I'll never get to use it. I'll never get to use anything beyond one or two kills in a row, it's just the way it is. Assassin's Creed, I like the free-running, I like the combat, I like the platforming, I like the setting, the feel, I like the fact it's third-person... I don't see much reason not to get hyped every year.
Granted, i do think they REALLY overdid it this year. Not just with the games, themselves.. but by trying to integrate too much into the games. You have a companion app on mobile devices, you have the Initiates program online, you have three types of currency in-game, everything ties to each other.... it sounds cool for the first time you actually use everything, but at a certain point you just stop giving a shit.. and it's way before the developers intended for you to give up on it.
Granted, it's cool they can integrate stuff... it's a nice idea to be able to continue your game in some form or fashion even when you're not on your console. But the entire experience feels diluted and unnecessary.
AC: Victory is on my list of most-anticipated games next year, even without much info on it. Granted, it's an AC game... not much info is needed. But, even I admit I wouldn't shed a tear if Ubisoft thought the better of it, skipped this year, refined it, and released it in 2016. It won't happen, though... Ubisoft has adopted Activision's model of yearly releases and solid release dates where no matter what, the game is coming out on that day regardless if it should or not.

Cool locations and the ability to kill people in a wide variety of ways.
It can be milked for a while...
