I think I'm finally at that point where I use it just as a timewaster for a couple of hours a day rather than it being some kind of life support.
Now it's just...there.
I'd probably freak the f*** out if it all went away, but I don't feel like I need it while it's there.
Maybe it's because nothing interesting it going on apart from that lame gamergate thing.

The internet is just the tool, so if nothing is going on online, then not a lot of things are going on period.
Unless we can somehow get the net to "step the game up".

lol, you couldnt go two days without it. i dont mean that in a disrespectful way btw. That goes for all of us. I had to a few weeks without it when I first moved to a new flat in Spain. I read a lot of books. It was kind of good. But kind of bad. The books themselves were ace. Now I have the internet back Im again reading books less.

Pretty much a nigh-infinite amount of information and knowledge is free on the net. If that doesn't have enough "spark" for ya, I don't know what to tell you.

In some ways yes. I recently quit Twitter because I was becoming way too addicted to it.

I was obsessively into social media, fan sites etc in the early 00s before it was mainstream popular and was mocked relentlessly for it in school. Now those same people are glued to Facebook and twitter so they can post duck-face "selfies" and tell everyone that they just had dinner, while I'm virtually internet-free

Hell no. Although, it is a nice change if I get the connection cut off for a few days.

I'm planning on taking a break from it as much as I can when I'm home with family over winter break. I think honestly I'm more burnt out with the omnipresent cynicism and the seemingly obsessive desire to find something wrong with everything. It's more of a burnout than anything and I realize the slight hypocrisy in me saying this, but I'm sick of people bitching and I'm sick of drama. It's kind of out of sight out of mind but for me life is stressful enough without bringing things from the internet into it to get me more riled up.

The thing I find the most interesting about the internet is that people's perceptions of it are directly related to how those same people use it. It’s largely a reactive entity that can only give you information you're looking for or newer versions of what you've sought out in the past.
So it’s fascinating that some people have a very negative view of the internet and mainly see the ugly facets of it, while others view it as this fun, fairly innocuous diversion and still others see it possibly as a helpful tool in their creative endeavors. It really seems like how people view the internet ends up being more a reflection on how they see their own reality. I always like to know people's internet habits because it often speaks volumes about their disposition.

I'd miss it if it went away.
But I can't deny the fact I usually cycle through the same three websites all day and it's just something to do.
