One of my favorite joys is reading Herb Kunze complain about how wrestling in the Attitude Era (with the exception of Austin) sucked. He HATED the Attitude Era

I wrote a WCW recap/e-mail newsletter from 97-00 and I remember how horrible it was to recap those later shows. I also spent a lot of time reading hate mail from Benoit marks who objected to me stating that he was not World champion material.

The semester is almost over, so he should get to some Japanese tapes. Sanjay will probably make him put ECW pics.

I guess it's the 90s equivalent of what happens when you tell someone Dolph Ziggler isn't WWE championship material.

It's funny if you read tv and ppv show reviews from the Monday Night Wars time period, they were harsh if not harsher as they are about the current WWE product. 10 years from now, the current generation who are kids will look back at this as a golden era and call the product they are watching shitty. It happens every generation. Hogan was hated among diehard fans as Cena. Ric Flair was who the cool kids loved. Nick Bockwinkel was for the purists. Than Bret Hart was for the purists. HBK was hated by diehards, loved by casuals. Diesel was the guy pushed down your throat. 1-2-3 Kid, Undertaker, and Razor Ramon were the guys who deserved better. Billy Gunn was the Cesaro of his day. Like how people accuse Cena of killing careers, the Rock and Austin got the same flack. Circle of life.

Didn't Austin get accused of burying Triple H for not putting him over at Summerslam 99?

Somewhere on Usenet is a message from somebody reporting on the first WrestleMania. I saw it years ago, and posted on here saying we were all the guy's bastard children.
Mesmerizing that the IWC was there live at MSG for the first WM. Even if it was only one guy.
EDIT: The guy remembers COWBOY Bill Watts but not his gimmick. Heh.

Didn't Austin get accused of burying Triple H for not putting him over at Summerslam 99? Yes and a couple others. Double J, Goldust, Booker T, and believe or not Mick Foley. The Rock got Cena levels of hate for not putting over Billy Gunn, Booker T, and Chris Benoit. People rail on Cena's cornball humor but I remember that Rock's skit with Booker Wee was damn near universally hated. And Rock not losing matches to Benoit made people damn near riot. That's why I say in 10 years, people will remember Cena more fondly because nostalgia makes things less hateable.

I was in the IWC during the later Attitude Era(2000) and I remember how everyone would diss WCW for having more old wrestlers than young wrestlers. People also hated the Rock back then and thought Triple H was great. How things have changed...

lol I've gone through and read a few of the old archived stuff on google groups always found it funny how similar the complaints were.
Makes me wish some of the old geocities, etc fan sites were still up, those were fun to look at back in the day.
