A bit 'conspiracy theory' here but I believe that certain people are currently trying to ensure that Raw is as crap as possible in their absence. Maybe this is a tad cynical but at times this year after strong PPVs the following Raw has lead with a real long, crappy, laborious and ultimately pointless promo and I've always suspected that was designed to take the heat away from what happened the night before as if to prove the point of: "See, we thought the PPV did okay and he was over but look at how quickly ratings tanked the next night."
Now before anyone cries bull, I think there's form. Benoit in 2004 for example. His one successful title defence of his reign in a match not involving HHH was vs Kane, a man whose only PPV win in months was against Shane McMahon. Even that match never main evented the PPV, despite being the title match. Three guesses who did.
What happened? Oh gee we thought Benoit was over but I guess not, better transfer it back to Trips.
Now look at today. They had huge momentum coming off the Survivor Series and rather than capitalise on that what happened? A near 35 minute promo that spanned the segements on Raw, the end result being that Kane would sell hotdogs and we'd see Jamie Noble wrestle in work-pants. From Since then what have we had? Terrible Raw's, even by 'terrible Raw's' standard. We've had the return of the anonymous GM, who everyone hates, and a series of really crappy, inconsequential, unentertaining crap.
I'm sorry but anyone who doesn't think we're currently being encouraged to want the Authority back is naive as someone who buys an extended warranty on an item that costs half as much as the warranty itself. Raw's are being deliberately undermined to give someone the opportunity to say "Gee Vince, I was all for taking an extended break from television but look at these numbers, it's clear we need our stronger characters on screen right now"

I... I don't know what to say...
Other than I don't think they'd sabotage their ratings for a storyline reason. Not when they're not above just saying "OK, We kidnapped Nikki and now Cena put us back in power" or something similar.

No they're not sabotaging them for a storyline reason that's not what I'm saying. I think that the HHH is actively, as he always has, trying to position himself whereby he's the most important man on television. Maybe Vince decided it was time the Authority had a break on air and rather than running with that idea HHH/Steph are underhandedly making sure that their characters are seen as 'needed' as soon as possible.
Whenever someone else gets over they immediately suck the life-blood out of the show the next night on Raw by ensuring it opens with a looooong ass promo, usually if not always involving them. Now when they're written off TV - suddenly almost every show is a 'worst Raw in 5 years' contender.
Coincidence? Maybe I'm being a bit Jesse Ventura about it all but I can't help the cynicism

Oh! My apologies. I thought you meant "Triple H" was trying to sabotage Raw, not Triple H. I still don't see it. If anything "their characters" that are being brought up from NXT are being changed/shit on. They're definitely "needed" but not appreciated. But fair enough I suppose. Really you could make all the same "trying to position himself as the focal point" argument when it comes to Vince McMahon about 15 years ago, and that worked out great in the end. From my perspective, as long as Trips keeps running NXT the way he is he has a huge green check mark in my book.

Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Either this is them intentionally sabotaging the show, with all those terrible RAWs in the months prior to Survivor Series being practice runs...
Or they just put out a shit product.

Even if they were doing bad episodes, they aren't, the idea that they are making it bad on purpose is so absurd I do not think for a second that you actually believe it.

It's not that they're trying to make bad episodes of Raw, they're just not trying to make good episodes of Raw.

Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity. Other than you, who said that? It's been used in various forms, but it's popularly called Hanlon's Razor. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanlon%27s_razor

My theory about Sting being a mole sent by Dixie Carter to destroy WWE from within is sounding more plausible

My theory about Sting being a mole sent by Dixie Carter to destroy WWE from within is sounding more plausible They're all in cahoots and Dixie will put Vince out of business. Once the stock prices drop low enough Dixie's parents will buy her the WWE.

If they are (and even I don't think they're that ass backwards), then they're legitimately stupid.

Eh but a lot of Raws were crummy WITH the Authority though. There were at least four or five Raws in a row that were just such a chore to sit through a couple months ago.

Vince probably sees these few Authority-less weeks as an "exciting treat" to fans.

Raw is being sabotaged, but it's not Triple H's fault.
Nonetheless, I just must vote No Confidence.
