He's done, I think. Orton said that his career was over on TV during his feud with Jericho a few months back.
As for Christian himself, I never saw him as a top guy in WWE. I know people are gonna disagree with me on that but something about Captain Charisma didn't click for me as a main event guy. In TNA, sure, it worked because that entire company is full of goofballs. But in WWE, something about it just wasn't believable to me.
That being said, I think it was bullshit that WWE took the WHC title off him two days after his victory. Even though I personally never saw him as a top guy, they could have at least given the guy a serious chance. Not like Orton was doing great business as champ. What's the worst that can happen, you accidentally create a new star?

I always saw Christian as a guy like DDP in 1997/8. He was a hard worker who fans respected. They knew he wasn't the best, but they knew he was good enough to win.

Christians ECW runs should have been proof enough that he was a main event caliber guy. He deserved a little more, certainly a better World title run. But considering how little they ever wanted to feature him in that role it's great that they gave him those programs.
He is a hall of famer waiting for induction.

The last official word from him about his career (I think) was on Jericho's podcast, where he said he'd retire immediately if his health would be in jeopardy by wrestling.
I may be incredibly biased as he's my all time favorite and probably the only wrestler that would recognize me if I saw him again, but I think he had a great career if he's retired now. He did more than most thought he would (he was frequently on the "never will win world title" list), and had some of the best work of his career in his second run.I think I enjoyed his ECW run the most. I would hope that WWE gets the rights to TNA's tape library by the time they do his career retrospectives, I think that's where he really learned to be a main eventer and honed his singles skills.

Headed to prison for his crimes against humanity. Slavery is disgusting.

As often as he was getting injured, with his age, it's the correct decision.

I am missing something with the slave jokes
Personally I hope he isn't at that point of retirement yet, I'd love to see him get one real run with the WHC

He's still #1 contender for the Intercontinental Title.

If he's really retired now, then he's got nothing to be ashamed of. Hell of a career as a tag team guy, along with some great singles success. People have gotten into the Hall Of Fame on a lot less.

Mr. Average. Good at most things but not great at anything. Sucks his WWE career had to end like it did but good on WWE for protecting everyone involved.

WWE has given him indefinite time off to get healthy so he's not retired just yet. I think it's real cool of them to do that instead of just giving up on him and releasing him or something.
That being said, he's my favorite wrestler so obviously I can't wait for him to come back. I don't see WWE ever giving him another opportunity at the top but I think he'd do well in the upper mid card or the US/IC title scene. & I'd totally love to see a Christian/Ambrose feud.

He was such a great babyface. The way I feel about Sami Zayn right now, I felt about Christian at his peak. I thought he was great as a heel too, but WWE always booked him too cowardly and weak and overall ineffective.

Awesome wrestler, I don't know if I would've been able to stay with it when I un-lapsed for Bret in 2010 if I hadn't been able to latch onto Christian as my horse in the race.

am i the only one who wants to see Christian in One More Match?
he could be a great agent/trainer/manager or commentator. captain charisma can be helpful for those NXT guys who lack mic skills/charisma.
i still chuckle at his promo on Bret when he said he's the only relevant Canadian in WWE.

He goes in that William Regal category of guys who never got their proper limelight and never will and another aspect of my wrestling fandom that causes me actual pain.

He's the ultimate over-achiever. It's well known that Vince never really cared for him (rat-face anybody?), but through perseverance and some good timing, he managed to become one hell of a success story.
The guy carried TNA and later WWECW as a big fish in a small pond for several years because he had a great balance of talent and charisma, but just couldn't get an extended run at the top on the main roster.
