It's frustrating because say what you want about Rowan, he was getting reactions. You don't need to kill a guy's heat to build up another... Especially not a guy who doesn't need it like Show. It's that same stupid logic that leads to them constantly jobbing out their midcard champions.

'They have no long-term plan for anyone. When they sit down in a meeting, all Vince wants to know is what's next for John Cena.'
I don't think Punk was just being bitter when he said that. They are genuinely incapable of planning ahead for any more than two guys at a time i.e. Cena and one other, currently Reigns. Everyone else just swirls around in the same stop-start cycle subject to Vince and co's whims.

They took Jack Swagger out of Survivor Series just so they could put Rowan in, when Swagger could have done the same exact think that Rowan did, Worse yet, they had the "injured" Jack Swagger wrestling weeks after they were forced to take him off the team. Which begs the question why they had to remove him in the first place. Also, originally Rowan was there to serve as a replacement for Sheamus, who got injured a week or so before the show.

Reigns is awesome I hope he does well in 2015. Dude is getting miles of undeserved hate based solely on rumors that caused everyone to nitpick every promo and action he does. People wouldn't nitpick if he actually had everything together. The issue of this thread is that they sacrificed a perfectly good face in Erick Rowan to Big Show just for the sake of feeding him to Reigns. Big Show SHOULD be putting over younger talent, but it seems like the only time he ever does is if it's one of the "chosen ones" or if he's putting over someone else being built up to work with one of the chosen ones (e.g. Rusev). If the end result is that a guy like Reigns is more credible and fed, at the expense of Erick Rowan who (lets face it) is not ever going to be the next John Cena, then the system works. Big Show IS putting over a young up and coming talent who would be a fresh face in the main event dominated by Cena and Orton. Cena and Orton BOTH have plans to work with and elevate other up and comers (Seth Rollins, Rusev). WWE is building new stars the right way. Just because you wished it was different young midcarders being elevated, doesn't mean they are making a mistake. To the casual fans, Ambrose, Reigns, Rollins, Ziggler, Rusev, AND Wyatt are ALL badasses who deserve a shot at the World Champion. That's what makes the Royal Rumble so exciting. All those guys need to look strong as the final 6 in the Rumble this year. If they book it right, hey all would be believable as the winner. Granted, some of those guys have had better writing and stories recently, but the goal is the same. Big Show, Cena, Orton, Sheamus, Kane, and HHH should all be doing everything they can to make all 6 of those guys credible. (Miz & Goldust are doing the same for the tag and midcarders, they are making Sandow, Cody & the Usos look like a million bucks.) So everyone that's not one of those 6 guys can be on the backburner and lose a few matches for now, because they have to focus on the ones who are more relevant. The Ex-Wyatts are fine in the midcard right now, losing to veterans, so that the vets can lose to the "chosen ones". "Big Show SHOULD be putting over younger talent, but it seems like the only time he ever does is if it's one of the "chosen ones" or if he's putting over someone else being built up to work with one of the chosen ones" This is the perfect way to use Big Show. I don't know why you think being "chosen" for a main event level push is this dishonest, unethical thing... In order to push somebody, OF COURSE you have to choose someone to get pushed. If the only time Big Show puts over younger talent is when that talent is supposed to be elevated to enhance a future main event... well... awesome!

The weirdest part is the need to make Big Show look "credible" or "strong". He's been with the company for 47 years now, I think we all understand what he can do at this point.

This is the problem here. We know that Big Show is a big scary giant. He should be a threat to put over Reigns just by that alone. He could've been slotted into a feud with Reigns without having to sacrifice Rowan. Hell, if they absolutely had to pick someone to feed to Big Show, they should have used someone for whom getting crushed by Show would be considered an elevation.

Vince's problem is he only ever cares about one guy. It's Cena now and it will be Reigns in the future. I have no idea how he is like this because if you look at WWE before Cena went on top, they had lots of top guys... Austin, Rock, Triple H, the list goes on. Even after Cena became "the guy", he was surrounded by guys new to the main event scene like Batista, Orton and Edge who were treated as being somewhat in Cena's league. Plus hold overs like Triple H, HBK and The Undertaker. RVD as well to a lesser extent. But it's like WWE gave up after that crop of guys. Now we're left with Cena and part-timers on a pedestal above everyone else. WWE should consider themselves lucky Cena's acting career never took off.
