After 10 years in Oslo my brother moved to a small town because he never used the city any more. Went downtown all the time at first but ended up staying home mostly so he saw no point in staying paying large rent.
Does the same thing happen to residents of much larger cities like London, New York, Tokyo and such?

The only thing I missed about the big city (was in St Louis for a while) was the immediate access to a plethora of food choices.
Now that I know how to cook like a boss I'll never move back into one.

I live in Oakland, but have to commute to SF for work.
I'm not a fan of SF at all though. The whole feel of the place doesn't suit, though it has a decent selection of food for lunch at least.
