it aired on the network , did you really expect Vince to bury his own product ? But he kind of did. He buried his entire roster by saying they didn't have the balls to "grab the brass ring". And that Cena was the last one to attempt it. yes , but I meant in the sense that he would take responsibility in crap storylines - his message was basically they havent found the next Rock, Hogan , Austin , Cena

The thread title is confusing me. I'm trying to figure out which swear word beginning with S is five letters I think its an English thing, we often add an 'e' to the end of that faecal related swear word over here. I thought it was "shitty". EDIT: I now realize that is 6 letters, and that my counting is shitty.

Watch it again. Austin pushed Vince as far as he could without trashing the company or destroying his friendship with Vince. Austin was pretty much hinting that the preceding three hour RAW, and in particular the opening segment was not great. Vince spent the whole time doing uncomfortable fake laughs and giving corporate answers. What do you expect Austin to do "VINCE TELL ME WHY RAW WAS SO BAD TONIGHT? WHY DOES WRESTLING, NOT SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT, WRESTLING BLOW SO HARD NOW? WHY DID YOUR DOCTORS LET CM PUNK NEARLY DIE? NOW, ONTO BENOIT.." You know I feel like this is similar to when Jon Stewart gets flack for interviews with politicians. Austin is not an investigative journalist. This wasn't meet the press. Austin got a rare opportunity to get inside the mind of Vince McMahon for an hour. I think Austin hit the right notes. He asked about Punk, JR, and the product today. Austin pushed to a degree and Vince gave his answers.

Yep, because Vince really opened up when Costas tried that.

Meh, I enjoyed it. Vince may be full of shit, but listening to him describe his shitty ideas is still compelling. I hate Vince McMahon, but I also love him. As much as I want change to come to WWE, on the day I wake up and read the headline "Vince McMahon Dies", I will weep tears.

Sometimes you need a friend to kick you in the ass and give you a reality check.

The really crazy part was that even without Austin grilling him or even asking tough questions Vince revealed alot about himself and his crazy thought process just in the obviously prepared answers he did give on the podcast. If Austin would have grilled him, Vince probably would have clammed up. By just letting Vince talk, Austin actually got him to say more than he probably would have otherwise.

I don't know why people think Vince should be treated like some kind of felon before a grand jury. It was an interview not a cross-examination. Producing a wrestling show some don't like elements of doesn't mean the man deserves interrogation.
You never see a writer/producer on chat shows being grilled mercilessly on the poor second season. On some stuff Austin pressed him, other stuff he didn't. Not everyone would have been watching waiting for an apology or tearful resignation speech

It wasn't like Austin was pandering to him. He straight up asked why he feels the need to start every show with 30 minutes of rambling and told him that he thought that night's Raw opening dragged too long.

Vince's thought process: Damn ratings... we need a big draw. Damn Millennials don't know what a great product we have here. Where's Sheamus? We'll put heel Sheamus with babyface Orton. It'll do a million buys! Where's my damn beef wrap with ketchup?

Austin did the right thing. He asked the right questions and Vince made himself look like a dick with such stupid answers. All you need to do with Vince is give him the rope. He'll hang himself, metaphorically speaking.

I thought that was especially telling.

Well, this is weird. Opinion seemed almost unanimous at the time that the podcast was good and that Austin had asked some tough questions. People were pissed off with Vince's BS but it was inevitable that he wouldn't give straight answers to a lot of things. It's the Internet Nothing stays likes for long

Austin asked what he could and got info from Vince that confirmed/cleared up a lot of internet theories and now the wrestlers know who Vince thinks is top and what he wants. He did pretty much all he could. Not to mention you basically got a Vince McMahon shoot interview, something people have been crying for going on forever and now it wasn't good enough. I don't get what people want, Austin to ask how big Batista's dick is?

Yeah the interview was fine.
The strange part for me was all the stuff about the pool. Vince notoriously simplifies everything about WWE. Every storyline, every gimmick, every booking decision is all about "entertainment" and what's "entertaining." And then he turns around and waxes philosophical about pushing somebody in a f***ing pool. It made me picture him joining Verne Gagne in that nursing home much sooner than later.

I enjoyed it, I thought it was quite fun, there's something magical about Vince & Austin talking, it needs to be done more and on video too, it's wonderfully fascinating seeing Vince McMahon being any level of candid.
Smartest man in sports, I've no more to say.

If he got asked about not pushing new stars, Vince would very easily be able to name all of the new stars that have been created. I get that there are a lot of issues people have with the WWE but this is really a silly one.
