Austin should have absolutely grilled Vince for not evolving the product, not properly pushing new stars, and asked him why in the hell he was not going to put Bryan in the main event at Wrestlemania. Instead he asks a few good questions like about Cesaro (and not really grilling him properly) then the rest was just kinda filler. This should have been the chance to put Vince on the spot about current WWE affairs and Austin should have been the voice for us.

I agree.
He should have said "WHAT?" every time Vince tried to say something.

I don't think Austin was looking to burn his bridges with WWE.

I don't think Austin was looking to burn his bridges with WWE. I don't really think it's possible to burn bridges with WWE unless your name is Jeff Jarrett.

Austin has nothing to lose. He's made his money and he's done with wrestling. He would lose the chance to interview anyone from WWE, for starters, like JR has. Plus, what do people think would even happen? Vince would have just not answered anything or even left, and then Austin would have been f***ed as far as having an interview he could make money on, and he'd also look confrontational to future guests WWE couldn't put the kibosh on, who would be more hesitant to do his show. No one WANTS to be ambushed.

No one WANTS to be ambushed. Not to mention this was an interview promoted on WWE pay per view, led into on WWE Raw, and presented on the WWE Network. Anyone disappointed by this exchange's dearth of substance, anyone expecting anything of insight to come from a WWE Network special, has many many more disappointments to come. It's like "Yknow, Movietone newsreels of 1943 sure are on the side of the United States in this whole war effort". Ya think?

To be fair, after Punk's podcast, we had a good idea that it would be shit in foresight as well.
I was just hoping that Austin would press still as to not lose credibility. Instead he chose to accept the shit Vince was shoveling as enough of an answer to his questions to not risk pissing him off. Austin made his choice and I made mine and stopped bothering with the SAS after that.

Well, this is weird. Opinion seemed almost unanimous at the time that the podcast was good and that Austin had asked some tough questions. People were pissed off with Vince's BS but it was inevitable that he wouldn't give straight answers to a lot of things.

But I agree that there's only so much you can do while still being respectful.

The thread title is confusing me. I'm trying to figure out which swear word beginning with S is five letters I think its an English thing, we often add an 'e' to the end of that faecal related swear word over here.

it aired on the network , did you really expect Vince to bury his own product ?

it aired on the network , did you really expect Vince to bury his own product ? But he kind of did. He buried his entire roster by saying they didn't have the balls to "grab the brass ring". And that Cena was the last one to attempt it.

Watch it again. Austin pushed Vince as far as he could without trashing the company or destroying his friendship with Vince. Austin was pretty much hinting that the preceding three hour RAW, and in particular the opening segment was not great. Vince spent the whole time doing uncomfortable fake laughs and giving corporate answers.
What do you expect Austin to do "VINCE TELL ME WHY RAW WAS SO BAD TONIGHT? WHY DOES WRESTLING, NOT SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT, WRESTLING BLOW SO HARD NOW? WHY DID YOUR DOCTORS LET CM PUNK NEARLY DIE? NOW, ONTO BENOIT.."
