So the year is over. What grade does WWE get for 2014?

Rocky Start to the year with Batista backlash, best WM in a long time, injury problems really destroyed a lot, stupid neverending Authority and Cena vs Lesnar 2000. But props go to Cena getting murdered at Summerslam.
But we now have The Big Guy, a legit Ziggler and Batista redeemed himself wonderfully after the shitfest that was the Rumble.
3 of my 5 most disliked wrestlers are gone, that's a positive. Undercard matches are frequently good to amazing. Outside of the main event stagnation I love RAW. I'll give it a B+ in honor of Daniel Bryan.

I think C is fair. The good was very good and the bad was very bad so it balanced out. I'm optimistic about next year though, which is the important thing.

Had to give it a D. This was the year that put me off WWE so its hard for me to really rate it any higher. They're doing their thing and keeping in line with the brand they're putting out there, but its just not for me.

I went with satisfactory. It could have been great, as the first half of the year was amazing. After Bryan's injury, though, I feel like everything fell apart. There were still some fun things, though.

D+
There were moments of brilliance but this year was shit for the most part. I gave TNA a D- because they haven't had any show that's even as close as good as Wrestlemania XXX. At the same time, Raw was worse than Impact for the second half of this year so I think it all evens out.

I would give a D or D+ for WWE this year, because they obliterated so much after Mania.

I'm going with D, because the running theme throughout this year is me not even bothering to have expectations anymore and WWE still managing to disappoint me.

That's a good point. I wasn't even factoring in NXT.

NXT gets an A-, a rocky patch at the start of the year stopped it from getting full marks.
The rest of WWE get a (generous) D-, saved by The Shield guys and a brief period around WM where everything seemed to be going in the right direction (plus a few other high-points scattered across the year).
Off-screen gets a U, that's the score you get in the UK if your exam paper was so bad that it's ungraded. The network situation in the UK/Canada, issues from the two podcasts, the videogames, most importantly the news that NXT will no longer be shown on Sky Sports. I've never been so pissed off with WWE.
On balance I voted D- for the sake of the poll.

I just did the TNA version of this thread by the same author and that was easy. This one is a lot harder.
From a business perspective, WWE made some mistakes. The network launch was atrocious. Ratings went down even further at times, but they're such a behemoth that they still do okay on gates and merchandise. The CM Punk debacle is also a black eye on this year.
From a creative perspective, this is the most disenchanted with this company that I've been in a long time. I found most of the creative decisions to be lackluster and treading water. I was all for Brock Lesnar being champion as it adds a huge amount of credibility to the title and I hoped it would make it feel more important. However, he's wrestled one guy in this entire run multiple times (not counting Undertaker) and he was barely there for the majority of late 2014. I think its absolutely clear that Vince McMahon is not the genius he wants us all to think he is and has clearly lost touch with his audience in many respects. I do think the company did right by the fans with the Bryan push through Mania as it became impossible to ignore. However, at that point it was obvious what they were going to do. His injury also hurt them a lot as it was another top guy out and they had issues with pushing guys up to fill the void. This company is still lacking stars. On the flipside, the emergence of guys like Ambrose and the late year brilliance of Seth Rollins (my WWE MVP this year) has greatly helped. Then you have the re-energizing/company backing of Ziggler, Ryback getting another chance, Rusev, and some other bright spots like Mizdow that helped the year close a bit stronger. Roman Reigns is obviously another bright spot, but I am more afraid about what they're going to do with him at this point. IMO he's not ready yet and I don't want to see him end up like Sheamus. And of course, NXT has been absolutely brilliant and something the company should be rightly proud of.
Kind of the definition of a mixed bag year. When its been down, its been REALLY down though and that aspect kept my grade relatively low, but the bright spots kept it above water.
C+

B, but I only watch PPVs and most of them were good this year. I think more people should only watch PPVs because they will enjoy the product a lot more.

Mania was B+, my interest in Summerslam was A; everything else, considering I'm not watching now (I'll check out Rumble, as I always watch Rumble) is a big ol F.
I'll give em a D.

B+.
Quality-wise, the year would be a C-, but you also have to account for the fact that WWE had a LOT of bad luck in 2014. CM Punk walking out, Daniel Bryan (the de facto man) and Roman Reigns (the anointed Next One) both having injuries taking them out, Batista's signing having an unforeseen (by WWE) bust, Alberto Del Rio's firing and the problems there.
The best way to consider the WWE this year would be a good sports team that was plagued with injuries and fell to earth as a result of it- they were bad, but you can't "totally" blame them for how bad they were, and there's at least a hope that when the law of averages makes the show less injury-prone they'll bounce back next year.
