So the current nxt is a developmental league never seen before. Visibility and weekly shows that allow developmental stars to build a following and a notoriety before stepping foot in a wwe ring on raw. Who in the past ten years or so of true developmental leagues would you have liked to watch on a weekly show before they got called up? Who would have benefited from this kind of visibility and hardcore rabid fan base?
I would have liked to see punk, lesnar, benjamin, orton in developmental.
Would have benefited kizarney, colt cabana, kharma, ryan braddock, any of the spirit squad besides ziggler, gunner scott

Pretty much anyone. Even the long suffering underutilized talents of the current generation would probably be better off if they had stepped into NXT even with their same exact skill sets. WWE's mindset seems to be that NXT = good while everything before that = bad just because, ignoring the fact that most of their top talents are good because of their previous indie tenures while their homegrown guys are still miles behind. With the current generation of underutilized talents, it seems as if the only thing they did wrong was come into the company at the wrong time.

London and Kendrick. Ricky Ortiz. The Dudebusters. The New Pitbulls. Hot Wee Wee Jefferson. Countless others throughout the 2000s. Move over Lloyd Boner, its time for Hot WeeWee Jefferson to shine.

I think Colt Cabana could have been like a Sami Zayn.

If the Heyman era of OVW was given the exposure that NXT gets right now, the mid-late 2000s would have exploded with more popularity there.

All the guys in the televised nxt reality show concept who had to do silly challenges and only one person emerged a winner. Including Daniel bryan. He could have shown what the world saw in him in roh etc.
Tough enough competitors.

Paul Burchill. Ripper version. Yeah he made it to main roster, but he should have been a beast as The Ripper.

I'm going to use Tyson Kidd as an example, basically anyone who had the skillset and potential but were bland and boring and needed NXT to make them more interesting before returning to the main roster.
Off the top of my head, Mark Jindrak fits the bill. Maven definitely could have used some time on NXT. I don't know why they keep Axel around, he's an NXT top heel in the making. Shout outs to Cody Rhodes before his Legacy days, Ted Dibiase Jr after his Legacy days, Paul London after splitting with Kendrick, and Charlie Haas post-Rico.

Pretty much everyone who was thrown in the deep end of the pool to drown during the ECW iteration of that New Talent Initiative stuff.
Vladimir Kozlov, who likely wouldn't have gotten that aborted attempt at a main event push off the bat but would've been able to find his niche sooner than he did.

If the Heyman era of OVW was given the exposure that NXT gets right now, the mid-late 2000s would have exploded with more popularity there. The Heyman era of OVW was the NXT of its time. The problem was that OVW tv wasn't online and the only way to watch if you wasn't in the tv area was via VHS tape/DVD. Which took a month to get because that how OVW made them. I remember ordering them every month all the way until Paul got removed as booker. All the things people saying about NXT now was the same praise OVW was getting. Folks kept saying how WWE was going to ruin CM Punk, the Miz, or the Spirit Squad. Or calling OVW the best booked show in WWE. I mean, Heyman made a match between Ken Doane and Bobby Lashley seem epic.

Paul Burchill. Ripper version. Yeah he made it to main roster, but he should have been a beast as The Ripper. I remember Burchill looking like Brock Lesnar in those poor quality clips from the UK. Then he shows up and you realize he only looked that big because he was wrestling 80 pound guys.

Cesaro needed it to flesh out a character and a good enough WWE style promo working so when he does get to the main roster he wouldn't be lost. I feel HHH knows how to book Cesaro probably, maybe most of the people in management have an idea but Vince (people in his ear like Dunn) probably don't find him suitable for TV.

Cesaro already is, he just wears a wig and goes by the name Aiden English
