What I mean is I don't see how you could have seriously been invested in either a Hogan or Warrior match in the late 80's/Early 90's. Now I was a little kid when these 2 were at their peak and I was completely in kayfabe..yet even then I just couldn't get any enjoyment out of their matches as they were THAT invincible.
Nowadays i can watch their matches and enjoy them for cheesy cartoonish characters but still don't see how anyone could really watch a match and not know who would win...considering all these 2 ever did was kick out of their opponents finishers and proceed to beat them.
I keep hearing how everyone loved Macho Man/Warrior from Wrestlemania 7...even over Warrior/Hogan at Wmania 6..yet withHogan/Warrior it really was a toss up...you had no clue who would win...however Warrior kicked out of FIVE Macho elbow drops...was there really that much drama?? I know both lost a match during that era but its something like 2 losses in like 4-5 years. Every other feud either had it was pretty much guaranteed they'd kick out of their opponents finisher and win.
Anyone else think they were just too invincible for any real drama?

As a child, sure. I was that much a Hulkamaniac. There's a reason Andre/Hogan will always be my favorite wrestling memory, and that's cuz at eight years old I was on the edge of my seat watching it on closed circuit.

You can still enjoy a film when you've predicted the ending. It's not all about the destination, it's about the journey too.

I feel like with Hogan feuds it was only Andre & Warrior that I thought could beat him...with Warrior it was only Hogan...I mean I was a child so I thought it was real yet it literally felt like having Superman & The Hulk in fist fights with regular villains sometimes

As a kid, I was pumped for Hogan vs Warrior 2.

My earliest wrestling memory is seeing a syndicated show talking about the Warrior/Hogan showdown in the 1990 Rumble, so I absolutely got drama from it, it created a monster that's lasted 25 years now

Hogan and Warrior matches were pretty predictable, yes. Because I voted against both of them as a child, this embittered me.
At WM7 when Macho hit Warrior with the elbow drop, there was a brief glimmer of hope that he might just be able to pull this off. When he kept going back up and hitting him 4 more times, I knew that Warrior was going to kick out and this would be INFURIATING to me as a Macho Man fan.
Orndorff was the only guy in the 80's who I saw as a threat to Hogan, because he just seemed like that total package anti-Hogan who could have not just beaten him, but taken his spot. Andre was no threat whatsoever in my mind. Hogan matches were like plucking out my own eyes for this reason alone.
Now that I'm older, I enjoy Hogan matches for what they are until '95 WCW where he starts bulldozing Vader like he's just another one of his "monster heel of the week" challengers. Warrior matches are not as terrible as people say, but not as good as Hogan.

Yes. I was a kid and Hogan and Warrior were the two big superhero babyfaces and it felt so special to see them square off as you just never saw matches like that. I was in the Ultimate Warrior camp. To me, that match was awesome. If I watch the match back the magic is gone somewhat, but it mostly still holds up.

If being pretty sure of a happy ending for the superhero killed suspense and intrigue then comic books wouldn't be a thing

The first one was epic drama.
I haven't seen their second match, because as far as I'm concerned, it never happened.

In hindsight sight the drama was what it was and it was acceptable to me. It didn't need to be that deep.
But Hogan vs Macho Man... That shit was off the chain. I mean Bobby Rhoode off the chain.

Warrior? Nope. Then again Warrior did exactly what he was supposed to do, blast through guys. My first exposure to WWF and thus Warrior, was Mania 5, a loss. When you're 6 year old and the only wrestling fan in the house, sometimes wrestling is hard to come by, so I got super rare exposure to either of them, especially Hogan since he was the champ, and most of it came from repeated watchings of Mania 5. Until my parents said "the tape broke" and I got to watch some new stuff with more regularity.
Yes, Hogan's matches had drama for me, at 7 years old, Earthquake crushed Hogan, put him on the shelf. He came back and they said he trained too lean to fight Quake, his ribs weren't healed, I was so happy when he won, even by countout because Quake didn't murder him.
Them not being around always gave them an aura, they were special, yeah, the act was always the same, but when you never saw it, you wanted to see it. That's why Cena is stale as shit, even if he's doing basically the same thing, because he does it 80 times a year, not about 2, like Hogan or Warrior would.

I did. I was a huge Hulkamaniac. And I couldn't believe it when Warrior beat Hogan.
