Then, I have to say that it has been awful for the division.
The preview suggested that Paige's 'crazy' heel character, Rosa's butt being shown, and of course the Bellas feud were all just material for the reality show.
The Rosa thing is harmless but the rest? I don't know. The division is weak enough without even more reasons to portray women as catty bitches.

I just like that we now have angles that both begin and end in the future.

It did lead to my fantasy of Paige just repeatedly entering the room and yelling "THURSDAY!" at me in a neverending loop.

I guess I can appreciate that they're trying to establish some sort of continuity between the main shows and Total Divas, but it doesn't help when the storylines are just dropped with no explanation and then you still have them play out on Total Divas like the curent Bella thing seems to be.

The two shows are not compatible.

Renews my faith in the idea of Bray Wyatt brainwashing one of the girls from NXT because he thinks he is protecting her from becoming an insufferable pregnant female dog like the Total Divas are portrayed as being

I forgive Total Divas of all it's sins because it brought us Tyson not giving any shits.

The stuff they do when Total Divas is off the air to store up footage for the forthcoming season is fine. The Funkadactyls and Bellas break-ups and Paige's heel turn made sense independent of the reality show and had kayfabe reasons for happening as well as the TD ones. Brie and Nikki just sticking together at the end of it all sucked, but it's not as if storylines don't get sent straight back to square one with little to no explanation all the time anyway. It happened before Total Divas and it'll continue to happen after.
The thing that sucks is when it's on the air and each week there's a match themed around that week's episode, even though the stuff they're fighting over clearly happened months ago and it runs completely against pre-established heel and face dynamics. I remember once during season 2 they did an angle on Raw or Smackdown where all the other girls abandoned Nattie after a match playing off something or other in that week's TD, then they had that godawful match between Nikki and Nattie with Eva refereeing, but the following week they were all teaming together again like nothing happened. That helps no one.
It's a strange one though, it's given the Divas more TV time, it's led to more of them getting over, so it's not without merit, even though I've personally grown to find it unwatchable and demeaning for all involved. I just wish they could always keep the two timelines separate like they do when they're between seasons. That and not use it as an excuse to continue to book Divas matches as glorified catfights.

They apparently knew around Summerslam that Paige would be joining the show. If the show is what required Paige's character to gradually become more gratuitously sexual, then the show is legitimately bad for the division. If E! is just following what WWE does and spinning stories out of it, then we're back to blaming the creative team.

The reason I stopped watching TD was that, as well as becoming contrived to the point where I couldn't even suspend disbelief anymore, it just started to feel like the writers' chance to unleash all the horny teenage bullshit they've not been able to have the Divas do on the wrestling programming since going PG. I also wonder whether it's the reason they've stopped signing female wrestlers since AJ turned it down and Paige apparently did as well in the beginning because she just wanted to wrestle, in which case it's definitely bad for the division. Unless the ratings have a dramatic upswing this time around it might not be around for much longer anyway, I doubt they'd have the budget to move it onto the Network without E! backing.

I think the writing for women's segments in NXT needs improvement but it's so jarring to see Sasha and Charlotte bringing a crowd to life. And then you have one of your top divas on the main roster vomiting. It's as direct a contrast as any.

Hopefully it was a wake-up call to people in the back that crowds will respond to Divas matches if they're actually, y'know, good. I wonder what the girls on Total Divas really think of it? Nattie and the Bellas talk all the time about wanting to improve the match quality of the division and make it harder-hitting, but they're probably less likely to get their wish if it mainly serves as a backdrop to their catfight show. I wonder whether it's something of a necessary evil for some of them.

Honestly, I see it as two seperate entities. I don't see why they try to work TD storylines into RAW or SD. I know it's promotion of TD, but they should put a lot more thought into it then just making up petty fueds that are months old. I think that the reality show allow us to see the divas in a different light, sure you guys are right about being highschool BS, but still, at least to me, it's very addicting.
