Bret Hart decides to work it out with Vince that on Survivor Series 97 he would drop the belt to none other than Ahmed Johnson. At the night of the event, 'something' happens to Shawn Michaels and Vince Mcmahon decides that Ahmed Johnson would replace Michaels in the match against Bret Hart. Bret loses the match and Ahmed Johnson gets awarded the championship belt.
Where does Ahmed go from here? Does he make it all the way to Wrestlemania to lose to Austin, or would his reign be short lived? Assuming that he does not get injured or injury others in the title reign, where does he go?

Ahmed vs. Shawn/DX is the natural feud that follows. They have a title match at the December PPV, ending in a DQ mess because DX. To combat DX, Ahmed summons the Nation, who become tweener faces to DX's tweener heels. They have a rematch at the Rumble, ending with Rock "accidentally" costing him the title. Meanwhile, Austin wins the Rumble. Rock and Ahmed feud, with the Nation splintering and taking sides. No Way Out sees DX vs. Ahmed/Kama vs. Rock/Faarooq vs. Austin/Owen Hart in a street fight. Mania we see Rock vs. Ahmed, with Rock going over as the rest of the Nation takes his side, HHH vs. Owen Hart, and Austin vs. Michaels, the last two with the same winners that actually happened.

Ahmed wins the belt from Bret Hart at Survivor Series and shortly after blows out his knee again.

In an angle like this (which could have solved a lot of problems) The Undertaker would have been the best choice since he wasn't on the card. Or add him as a third in the week leading up since those three had been programmed together from Summerslam and have Taker leave with the belt.

If you're still going to give Austin the title at Wrestlemania, then there is no chance that Ahmed Johnson is going to be his opponent, so he'd probably have to drop it at the Royal Rumble, so as not to look too much of a chump. Undertaker would be my first pick, but he was pretty much locked in with Kane by Survivor Series.

Would be nice to see the Purple Wurple Powerhouse get the belt. After all those months and years training, eating his Bozo Soup and Stars and Canned Possum. Overcoming the setback of a crushed Enzo. The beatdown at the hands of the sand rippa. Morty stealing his meds....
