I have to say that I very much enjoy this show. Sure, I didn't watch it when it was on and it has not been long since its cancellation, but I have to say that this is one funny show. I can see that this show was done by the same producers who did "My Name Is Earl," but I wonder if it shares the same universe as that show. I have heard references to the show on "Raising Hope," but in another episode, the daytime hooker appeared on there. I wonder if it's the same continuity or what.
Why did the show get cancelled?

The first episode has the biggest Earl reference, as a news announcer plugs a story about a "small time crook who made good, and you won't believe how his story ends!" Stars from Earl appeared as different characters too. It got cancelled cause Fox didn't know what to do with it. Beyond the first season, they barely told you the show was on and kept changing its time.

I dont think the first episode had the biggest reference...Episode "Raising The Band" was amazing and the entire Earl cast is n full swing...Even a crab man reference...

There are references to Earl like a place dedicated to him in memoriam, but there are also references of watching My Name is Earl and being upset it was cancelled. All the main actors from Earl will appear from time to time on Raising Hope, but I don't think anyone except one "celebrity" returns as the character they played on MNIE. However, characters from creator Greg Garcia's previous show Yes, Dear do reprise those characters. I watched that show so I got a kick out of seeing them.
I really enjoyed Raising Hope and upset there aren't more episodes, but it did last 4 years and 88 episodes. It was never going to end up like Big Bang Theory where it seems like it will go on 20 years, but not a bad run.

I have a soft-spot for "Raising Hope" and "My name Is Earl".... the tone is that of a cartoon, in how they can talk about very offensive topics, yet they are able to make it all make sense and still end it on a pretty heart-warming note. A lot of times, it felt like one of the most innocent shows on TV as everybody meant well, they just didn't know any better at the time.
I miss it, but... I have to admit, the show really only works if Hope is a quiet observer and doesn't really interact and they were getting to a point where she was going to HAVE to start talking.

I get annoyed because it always seemed to be paired with Parks and Recreation in syndication. Stop trying to make me like Raising Hope by association, or feel the wrath of my indignation.

I love Raising Hope and was bummed when it got cancelled, but Fox screwed the show the minute they moved it from Tuesdays. Raising Hope, New Girl, Mindy Project, and Brooklyn 99 could have been a killer comedy line up if Fox hadn't screwed with scheduling.
I still have this weird connection with the Jimmy character cause my daughter was born just before the shows debut and I was completely clueless on raising a kid much like Jimmy. Not to mention I puked on my kid while changing her diaper (never told my gf bout that) just like Jimmy did.

I think I remember seeing an episode in which a reference of "My Name Is Earl" being cancelled. However, I remember the hooker character appearing, and she said that she was from Camden County, the city MNIE was set in. However, I noticed a facility being named after Earl Hickey. As for "Yes, Dear," I remember watching that show, even though was more of a standard sitcom with a set and laugh track. I remember in MNIE, Mike O'Malley played a character on that show and he was on "Yes, Dear." I have yet to see any actors play any characters on any "Raising Hope" episodes. I am in the middle of season three at the moment.

Fun Fact: Original title = Keep Hope Alive
Great show...S2 and 3 are the best. Show really found it's timing.
Garret Dillahunt waking up and mumbling "That's one in a row for you Wild Bill." almost choked me to death.

Yeah, the Yes, Dear appearance is in season 4. It's just an appearance though and nothing too big.

I never watched it. Earl was my favorite show and I was pissed that it ended on a cliffhanger, so I didn't want to feel burned as a fan again.

If My Name Is Earl was your favorite show I highly recommend you check out Raising Hope. It's got the same type of humor and most of the actors from Earl appear throughout the show. It's like My Name Is Earl died and was reincarnated as Raising Hope. Also, Raising Hope had a pretty decent series finale (it did not end in a cliffhanger).

I've always known about the Earl connections, but just didn't want to get invested and burned again. But now that it's over and I know I won't be mad about that at the end I will def be checking it out. Been looking for a new comedy series to watch, most of my favorites were cancelled/ended within the last few years, and of the five I currently watch one is ending soon (Parks and Rec) and three have been on a break for a while (Always Sunny, Workaholics, and Community).
