I know it's not a popular opinion, but I feel Batista should've been the one. We still would've had those great matches between Taker and Edge, Michaels, and others. Does anybody agree?

Their match at WM23 was awesome, I'll agree with that. Not sure if I wanted Dave to be "the one".
I almost wanted Edge to end the streak, and hard as it is for me to say this, I thought Orton was going to end it at WM21.

Hell no.
They could (not saying "should") have done it in 2005 with Orton.

Even though it wasn't as big of a deal as it became later on, I still say that Flair should have ended the streak, especially after the Anderson Spinebuster.

No one should have ended it. The "End of an Era" match should have been it. done.

If anyone should have done it then it should have been Orton at WM21, but in retrospect Taker should have retired at 20-0 after the Triple H Cell match.

If anyone should've ended it, it was Randy Orton. And Im not a fan of his. Just made most sense

I almost wanted Edge to end the streak I did too. It would have been better if he wasn't involved in the MitB match the previous year.

They should have ended it long before now. 'The Streak' was ruining him by making his matches foregone conclusions

Regardless of who ended, I am really disappointed we never got Cena vs. Undertaker for the streak. WWE really did not want to do that match, because they had to "protect" both of them.

Poor Batista! He can't get no love on this thread

I'd concur on the Orton point. The combination of his failed face run, his return to the Legend Killer gimmick and the Streak entering its 4th year as a 'thing' made it the most organic and indeed logical exit point for Undetaker's run had it been considered time to go there.
Batista was not the guy. He was the placeholder, if quite popular, face of the B-brand at the time.

It was a great match, but I think the ending was perfect. Winning the Rumble and going on to beat a current main eventer for the belt to me is a highlight of Undertaker's career, and something he deserved for quite a while.
While we're going back and changing history, I think Undertaker should've beaten Angle in that awesome match in 2006.
Brock conquering the streak just works for me. And 21-1 just looks good.

I thought it ended right when it needed to and by the right person.
I liked both HBK matches and to a lesser extent, both HHH matches.

The only time I saw someone ending it after Wrestlemania 21 was Michaels at 26. After that, it didn't really matter, especially those extremely overrated Triple H matches. I hated those because the story sucked pretty bad for both, I didn't believe for a second that Triple H's character meant what he said, nor did I think that Trips conveyed the same passion in the matches that Michaels did. It was an extension of a story that should have already been over.
I'll give Batista credit, IMO both he and Taker stole the show at WM23, it was a far better match than it deserved to be.
