Nope. He had 100% creative control over every aspect on the prequels, when he would have been better served overseeing more suitable people instead. He's a great storyteller, and a visionary for sure, but he's a terrible scriptwriter and a subpar director. I will forgive him for 99% of the changes in the special editions though.

controversial pick, but Adam Sandler. Most of his flicks, sans Jack and Jill are harmless and at the very least "watchable" came in this thread to post almost the exact same thing, Jack and Jill is literally the only movie of his you can't really excuse

Try and say Stallone is actually a good actor and you will get laughed out of town. Sure he´s only got a few great performances under his belt, but the great ones are excellent:

Michael Bay is definitely someone who gets picked on, but I think it's mostly because of the Transformers movies than anything. I don't hate the guy like a lot of movie fans do, or at least say they do. I liked both Bad Boys movies, The Rock, Pain & Gain, and I kind of enjoyed The Island. I am mostly on the fence when it comes to Armageddon, though. My annoyance with a lot of Michael Bay criticism is that it often feels very empty and reflexive.

Michael Bay.
Really, its about intentions. I've never heard him claim to be an artiste' or a some kind of creative god. He's gone on record as saying he knows this is a business and he's not making films to appease critics, but to keep the most amount of people entertained and buying movie tickets possible.
So on that level, I can say he's gets a bit too much crap from people in general.
That being said, I don't like most of his movies and if he just stopped making movies, I wouldn't feel like anything of value was lost.

I'm not going to say his films are perfect, but I'm joining the Michael Bay choir. Yeah, Revenge of the Fallen had some very ridiculous stuff in it, but there are people out there who act like he's the devil and that anyone who a legitimate fan of any of his movies is an MTV watching moron.
There's even this guy I know whom I won't name drop that I recently saw state the same elitist bullcrap that the aforementioned will say.

Sure he´s only got a few great performances under his belt, but the great ones are excellent: I think the sad thing about Stallone is that he is a very intelligent man and if he could get away with doing more serious roles then he would have done, unfortunately though a combination of Rocky's overwhelming popularity early in his career and looking and sounding like he does meant he could never be taken seriously in those more credible roles so he resorted to the more action based roles. My vote goes to Michael Cimino. A fantastic filmmaker with the likes of The Deer Hunter and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot under his belt but all but blacklisted from Hollywood following the failure of Heaven's Gate (which I have always thought was a great film anyway)

Look, maybe its just because I've been doing a podcast about him and watching his movies, but Jean Claude Van Damme.
Yes - he made some real bad films, especially during the height of his popularity, but I'd say he made more good than bad movies overall. And especially for his genre - he really put out some quality stuff.

I am mostly on the fence when it comes to Armageddon, though. People are too hard on the Transformers movies in general, I think. Plot aside (which I'll admit was sorely lacking in Revenge of the Fallen), an explosion-heavy, loud, and crazy movie about giant robots is pretty much exactly what I would expect from any Transformers movie. They're never going to be masterpieces and they're never going to win over critics, but the action in all 4 Transformers movies were actually pretty fun.

Meh, I'll be the one to bash Bay since multiple people are saying him. His movies are ungodly long, he can't maintain focus on scenes, he wastes damn good actors and he treats women as eye candy instead of actual fully fleshed out characters. Plus, he's a complete asshole.
I'll go with Kristin Stewart too. She can act very well at times, she has just been screwed image wise because of Twilight.

I'll be blunt. Michael Bay sucks. His films suck. I just don't need to be reminded of it every time a remake of an 80's/90's Kids show is being brought up and people think that because of this it's inevitable that Bay will "ruin" that just as he has "ruined" Transformers (A patchy franchise at best, even G1 is deeply flawed) or Ninja Turtles (again, the '87 cartoon, the best-known iteration of it, probably doesn't hold up now). But even for me now, the Bay-bashing has got to the point where I'm on the verge of defending the guy and I hate myself for that.

Bennifer Mk. 1 put a permanent chink in Affleck's armor. It's a shame, too, because I personally feel that, even when the material he's working with is subpar, Affleck himself gives it his all. I've been let down by movies Affleck is in, but I've never had a problem with his performances in those movies.

More on my take on Bay.
To be fair, I will admit that I don't like "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." I think that movie sucked. I have even read some people's disdain for "Bad Boys II" and I won't argue with their reasons because there were elements of that movie that were too over-the-top and went overboard on some stuff.
The thing about TF2 was that it went on for a lot longer than necessary, there were annoying characters like Skids and Mudflap, as well as the roommate character who didn't need to be in the movie for as long as he was. I didn't want to see two dogs mating. I didn't care to see a character's mother act like a nutjob after eating a pot-induced brownie. There were so many things wrong with that movie.
I even have some problems with TF3 as well, but I won't go into them.
However, I have never heard people bash "The Rock" before.

I don't think there's a such thing. I personally judge each work by its own merits.
For example, I hate what Michael Bay did with Transformers and Ninja Turtles, but I love Pain & Gain and Bad Boys. Likewise, M. Night Shamalan sucks but Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were awesome.

I have an annoyance with Micheal Bay, but not an all out hatred at all. I didn't like what he did with the Ninja Turtles' image, but since I stopped watching the Turtles during their first iteration (I found myself rooting for the villains more than the turtles at the end, and thought...okay, I'm annoyed with all the main characters that I'm rooting for the villains, it's time to walk away.) My annoyance really stems from Transformers. I've always had sort of a love hate relationship with them. I liked the toys, but really didn't care for any of the cartoons that much. I was a Masters of the Universe guy (/channelingCMPunk) When Micheal Bay's first Transformers movie came out, all I heard it seemed, from everyone was "OH YEAH! TRANSFORMERS ARE BACK!!! THANK GOD FOR MICHEAL BAY!!! Man, them and G.I. Joe were the coolest cartoons in the 80's!! I wish other awesome cartoons had been on!" Me: "Uh, Masters of the Universe? Silverhawks? M.A.S.K?" Fans: "Yep, Transformers and G.I. Joe...the only cartoons that existed in the 80's until the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came along. Man, that was awesome..." Me: "Grrrrrrrrrrrr....Micheal Bay and Transformers suck!!!" So really, I'm projecting my anger at Transformers fans onto poor Micheal Bay. But, as one last nasty parting shot at the fans...He-man kicked the f*** out of Skeletor AND Hordak! Pussy Optimus Prime got owned by loser Megatron, so at least He-man can actually defeat his enemies! So there!!!

Revenge of Fallen is garbage and none of the Transformers movies are particularly good (though I do kinda like Age of Extinction). That said, I think that Michael Bay has a pretty exciting visual style, for the most part. There's no defending his movies ideologically.

I alwats felt Ryan Reynolds gets alot of crap even though he is a good actor and I still till this day thought Green Lantern was a pretty good adaption of the comic book and thought he did well as Hal Jordan.
