I did a piece for Citypages today on the 10th anniversary of MF Doom's MM...Food album. The last release of his hyper-prolific output, I was able to speak with a few of his collaborators from around this time to piece together what Doom was like during the album's release, as well as all the changes that album went through. Check it out - blogs.citypages.com/gimmenoise/2015/01/mf_dooms_mmfood_10_years_later.phpWhere does MM...Food rank for you in terms of Doom albums?

Has it really been 10 years? I love that album. My favourite tracks are "Guinesses", "Rap Snitch Knishes" and "Deep Fried Frenz".

Thread title has me thinking of Nellie McKay's song Food, love that song.

10 years huh? I can't go ten days without either listening to something from that album let alone quoting something from it.

The Jake One remix of Hoe Cakes is one of my favourite DOOM tracks. I don't understand how this didn't make it to the original record. One of those weird oversights ala the original Ghost Deini music from Supreme Clientele -
as for the album - as much as I love it, I think I and the rest of the world is still waiting for a Mr Fantastik solo record.
ALSO - I remember seeing Ghostface in 2008 and he was talking about GHOSTDOOM being ready for the fall. If that record ever comes out i'll be shocked.

I saw this article posted on Reddit and immediately started looking for the thread here haha.
I actually enjoy this album a lot more than Madvillainy. *raises riot shield* Anyone else think about "Rapp Snitch Knishes" when the facts about Bobby Schmurda's arrest came out? That has to be one of my all-time favorite hooks, it's always gonna be relevant. Anyway, I actually didn't listen to this album until after I listened to DANGERDOOM and heard Meatwad spittin "Beef Rapp" at the end of the album.
"Potholderz" has one of my favorite bass lines in a song, "Deep Fried Frenz" is spot-on with the lyrics and the sample is used well, "One Beer" has one of my favorite drum samples ever and I still catch myself absentmindedly rapping the lyrics. I could ramble all day about this album, it's awesome.

Man, that was a nice read, MC Burman is a cool dude. I got all kinds of feelings about MM Food, Vomit spit is the sleeper hit on that album, in my top 3 Doom tracks, I wasn't a fan of the skits cept Gumbo. Beef rap is such an angry track, the whole album is angry. I can't put it over operation Doomsday which I can listen from start to finish infinitely. Of course, nothing tops take me to your leader

I agree about not digging the skits so much on MM...Food, but I actually really like the ones on Take Me to Your Leader. They're just more interesting. I still listen to Monster Zero pretty often.
