aloha, quick question for anyone any good at maths.
if i am marking two tests - one is marked out of 50 and the other out of 20 - do i simply just add the two together and work it out as a % of 70 to get the total mark?

Yes, as long as all the questions carry equal weightage.

one is worth 80% the other 20% going towards the same grade - is that not equal then?

Which one is which? The 50 one is worth 80%? If so, then just convert the score to be out of 80 (xx/50 * 80) then add that number to the score on the other paper and that should be the total score.
That should be right if I'm understanding this correctly.

If your still taking answers... Both equal 100% The 20 question is five percent per question The 50 is two percent per question Add up all scores and divide it by two

Multiply the 80% score times four, so if 75%, 75x4=300.
Then add the 20% score, assuming 80%, 300+80=380.
Divide by 5, 380/5= 76%
