I mean as in during conversation? Like you'll be talking to someone, but want to use a different word to describe something you already said. So while you're talking you're flipping through the thesaurus? I don't do this so much anymore, but did a lot back in the mid to late part of the last decade. Of course instead of making you look smart it can backfire. Like the time I used "moist" to describe the weather to a stranger at a bus stop.

Not so much when I'm talking in person, but definitely when I'm crafting posts on forums and stuff.

I have a pretty expansive vocabulary, scoring in the 91% percentile in the GRE verbal section. Don't know how you can accurately measure something like that but it comes in handy for my job as an ESL tutor.

Heh, it f***ing sucked because I took forever to graduate. I kicked ass on my subject test, though, scoring in the 89% percentile on the English subject test.

I don't like to use my large vocabulary, but it comes in handy as an English teacher...sometimes.

No, not in my head. But when I'm online, I'll often try and do google searches for alternative words I could use to post with in order to make myself sound smarter. Somehow, I don't think it's working.

No, but I have a Tyranosaurus in my head. It makes social interaction awkward sometimes.
