So, I recently purchased inFamous: Second Son for PS4 after already playing the first two games before and having a blast playing them. That is when I realized that the inFamous series is perhaps my favorite game series of all time. The choice to be either a superhero or a supervillain, the gameplay (just a blast simply to go through the city using your powers, liking especially the Neon powers from the new game), the fact that despite being a sandbox game there is not too much stuff to do so as not to overwhelm oneself, the decent story...For me, it is simply a fun and enjoyable rump. After I finish Second Son, I will definitely go back and replay the first two games again. Which brings me to my question: How do the fine people at FAN see this game series? Good or bad? Really interested in hearing other people's take on this.

I'm only played the first game, so I don't know if they got better in later installments.
The problem in morality games is how haphazard they tend to be in heir moral choices. You can either save the puppy or or blowup the school full of children and there's no middle ground. inFamous is particularly bad at it. There was also a general lack of creativity with the powers. For all the talk of being a lightning hero, the majority of the powers up until the lightning storm were pretty much the same gun layout you have in normal 3rd party shooter games, just replacing bullets with lightning.
The gameplay was pretty fun, so I'll give it a yay, but I think it could have done things a lot more.

I love them all, even Festival of Blood was interesting. I tried making levels in two and had some issues with it but I still like the second one the most

Unfortunately I played Shadow of Mordor and Sunset Overdrive before Second Son last year, so I found the traversal in the latter to feel quite lacking.
Still a damn good game, though. And absolutely gorgeous. One of the first games to really show us what the new consoles can do.
It's a good series and I look forward to whatever comes next.

You can throw cars at helicopters so it gets my seal of approval.

For the record, if anybody who has a PS4 and a Plus subscription wants a taste to how the games play out (or just want a fix), the stand-alone DLC First Light is free for the rest of January. It's pretty fun.

I played 1 and 2... and yeah while I enjoyed them... there seemed like a lot of missed potential... also I didn't like that it really didn't matter in the first game which way you chose nothing really changed. I haven't played hte 3rd one but they seemed to have wrapped everything up pretty damned conclusively in the second game... so I'm confused how they made a 3rd one.

I played the first one. I liked the gameplay and powers, but the morality system was dumb as hell. Stories shouldn't ass pull stuff to fit into the narrative, especially if the alternate choice established something else. Also "Give the orphans the medicine vs. tea bag the orphan corpses" is not a good morality system.

inFamous was the first game I ever played on my PS3, it came in a bundle, and I loved it. I had a blast playing it and I ever ordered the special edition for part 2 and I love that game as well. Once I get a PS4, I will definitely give Second Son a play.

I actually found myself loving Saints Row 4 more as a sandbox superhero game.

I love Infamous, it's a great series.
But, although it's an unpopular opinion.... I think Prototype stomps all over it.
