Flagman threw a straw on the track. (I'm joking...sort of.) Actually, it looks like one of those cheese wrappers. Flagman must be having a late sammich. Tony Kannan on Facebook: "Is that yellow for the water bottle on the line of the track???" Evidently we're in good company.

Ugh Busch. Was hoping it was going to be Gordon.
Oh and f*** Clint Bowyer. That wreck looked intentional. That guy should be the fuel attendant at a go kart track. Not a racer.

Thanks for the ride, and Thanks for the Memories, Jeff. Even though you were never my favorite driver, you earned my respect.

Normally when someone misses nearly a third of the season with injury they don't win the damn title, but... That's the way it's set up, I guess.

I've said this before, but like with the WWE, I feel like the upper brass at NASCAR has completely lost the plot in terms of being in tune with what the fans want.
I still don't think I've met a single NASCAR fan, offline or online, that -likes- the Chase, versus hating it for delegitimizing the sport and being forced competition, with forced high stakes.

I mean no disrespect to Kyle Busch, he won it by the rules fair and square, but I wish this would be a textbook example why to end the chase. Like I have said before, set a point amount to where you finish a race and whoever has the most points at the end of the season wins the title. And if it is decided in Phoenix or Texas, than so be it.

Rosberg will start the last race of the F1 season at the front after getting his 6th pole in a row. Will he make it 3 wins in a row? A bit of interesting Formula E news - from next year they are are going to have a support series featuring driverless cars. www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-34942691

I missed the first half of the race and all the build up, I was recording it and the BBC decided to bump it to BBC2 so that they could show the tennis on BBC1 instead. Sue Barker was already on my list from a couple of years ago when the tennis was running long and, while delivering the message that the F1 qualifying would be shown after the tennis finished, she decided to mention Hamilton got pole.
Rosberg does indeed make it 3 wins in a row, shame he couldn't do it earlier in the season. Wonder what it was that changed for these last few races - The title had been decided, so was it Hamilton not pushing quite as hard or there being less pressure on Rosberg? The tyre pressure rule change? or was it just a coincidence?
It wasn't a classic season by any means, but we had some good races as well as new drivers coming in and showing they can compete. I don't think it will be too long before Verstappen gets a chance in a bigger team.

I feel like in order to keep Mercedes from completely falling apart before the end of this season, the team probably put a bit more emphasis on Nico than Lewis with the WDC and WCC all wrapped up.

Someone over at Jalopnik did their best to tweak the new VICS logo to be a bit more fitting of what, evidently, Miles' vision for the series is... I...uh...almost like the joke logo better.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35149963As part of their cost cutting, The BBC has ended their F1 contract 3 years early and Channel 4 has taken on their broadcast rights from next season. BBC Radio 5 will still do commentary for the races. Wonder if Channel 4 will handle the ad breaks better or worse than ITV did?

I have a feeling the VICS logo is going to wind up tweaked before the season. Right now it's almost too minimalist, which is the same gripe I have with the new Verizon logo anyway. There's a difference between true minimalist like the original Bell System logo or any Saul Bass logos, and lazy-minimalist, which is what I'd argue the new Verizon identity is.
FFS, even just having the car icon colored red/black like it was before would be an improvement.

Marshall Pruett: Solving the Green Prix Champ Car MysteryAfter seeing HVM and KV light up their remaining DP01s for a quick test earlier this year, I started recalling the whole Green Prix mess. This story is pretty strange, given that you'd think 20+ highly specialized racing chassis would be rather difficult to displace. The gallery is pretty damn cool, particularly seeing the specialized Reynard 02i/Cosworth in maroon and white livery that Alex Zanardi took his ride in at the '03 Germany race after his accident. I think that was a Conquest car, and I'm surprised, given it was only the second year of that chassis/engine combo, that it wasn't reconfigured back into race-ready setup. That's a hellaciously expensive showpiece that could have been competitive until the DP01 came online in 2007.
