Someone over at Jalopnik did their best to tweak the new VICS logo to be a bit more fitting of what, evidently, Miles' vision for the series is... I...uh...almost like the joke logo better. I mocked this up quickly after seeing the redesign. I'm not an expert designer AT ALL but I'd like to think it's better then what Indycar can do: I also mocked this up as well, coming to a game store near you?

I also mocked this up as well, coming to a game store near you? Goddammit, JUST TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY!!!!! The problem is that us INDYCAR fans here would be the only ones to play it. I think Gerry Forsythe and Paul Gentilozzi would be out buying as many copies as possible to scribble out "INDYCAR" and put "CCWS Presented by Bridgestone" on it in magic marker.

I have never been a huge Indy fan, but I remember playing an Indy game on PS2 a while back, possibly IndyCar Series released in 2003. It was one of the most fun games that I remember playing.

The 2003 game was still under the ovals only format. It was pretty well developed, all things considered.
Those of us who are into racing games have been pining for a new INDYCAR sanctioned game for a lot of years. Nothing against iRacing and the various "sims," but for the kids with a home console, this is a fantastic way for them to reach a younger audience.
Since it makes sense from a marketing standpoint, it will be brought up in a meeting at 16th and Georgetown, given a mega-expensive feasibility study, and then dismissed.

Admittedly a little bit of self promotion but something I still think is work sharing.
With the announcement that Channel 4 are to take over as the new terrestrial broadcaster of British Formula One coverage, I thought it should be apt to look back at the last time that Formula One dipped it's waters into commercial television, with a look back at ITV's infamous coverage between 1997 and 2008.
The comments and in this video are my own, and I don't expect everyone to agree with my suggestions, but I hope you respect them and appreciate the work that went into this video.

Just want to throw a quick plug out for the AMA Supercross season starting tonight from Anaheim. Ryan Dungey is looking to repeat his 2015 championship performance, but I look for Ken Roczen to do some damage and is my pick to take the title.

So considering pretty much every driver I originally rooted for in NASCAR are retired now, I think it's allowed if I choose Chase Elliott as my new favorite driver, no matter how bandwagon-y that may come off. My excuse is that I've been watching long enough to remember Bill carrying him around during the Winston Select circa 1997, which... makes me feel a little old, even though I'm not THAT much older than he is. Haven't decided what I think of the paint scheme yet though. It's a little different from what they've historically done for the Napa sponsorship, and it's classy in a Martini stripes sort of way, but I think I'll have to see it on track to judge.

Actually kinda looks like the Michael Waltrip/DEI version, with the stripes down the side of the car.

True. I think it's primarily the relative scarcity of the Napa yellow that's throwing me off.
Also, RPM is racing the 43 and 44 next year, which freed up the #9 leftover from the merger with Ray Evernham, but Hendrick is sticking with the #24 for next year.
Honestly, if I were Chase Elliott, that'd pretty much be a rock-and-a-hard-place scenario. You're stuck with either living up to the expectations of your dad even moreso, or living up to the expectations of Jeff Gordon. Considering how much stock Hendrick put into naming him the heir apparent, I'm not surprised they didn't choose to switch to the #9 at the eleventh hour.

Due to a lack of television availability (translation: I'm not paying for cable anymore. f*** all that noise), I just finished the first Supercross event of the season, Anaheim 1. It was an interesting set of races. In one of the semis, Vincent Friese took out Weston Peick, leading to Peick swinging wildly at the head of Friese. A smart move when your target is wearing a helmet. Peick was DQ'd, and fined after the race. In the 450 Main, defending champion Ryan Dungey and favorite James Stewart collided, causing Stewart to be injured and helped off the track. The racing was good as Cole Seeley led early, but was tracked down by Jason Anderson, who was the eventual winner. Dungey recovered to finish second, and Seeley came in third. My pick for the season championship, Ken Roczen, struggled early but rallied to finish fifth. This week, its on to Petco Park in San Diego for week 2. Hey, here's a track map! A fairly standard track design this week. I was looking through all the tracks for the season, and there are some interesting layouts coming up. (http://www.supercrosslive.com/tracks)

I'll be honest I'm disappointed Milwaukee and Fontana aren't on the Indycar schedule this year but I'm looking forward to Road America. Great course.

And from what I've read, it sounds like in this case, it was pretty much all on the (intoxicated) fan. Considering the number of witnesses and the fact that the sheriff's dept is conducting a conduct investigation, it really sounds like Smoke didn't do much but hold his ground.

Brian France just announced that the Trucks and Xfinity series will have A Chase Elimination format this year, and that Cup drivers that were in the chase last year will not be allowed in the Trucks/Xfinity finale at Homestead.

That is a huge change from the original version that wasn't going to allow any driver to drop below the series he was competing for points in. I'm guessing the track presidents had a friendly talk with Mr. France on that one.

So now I have NO reason to watch any form of NASCAR anymore. Good riddance, I'll lose no sleep over it.
