It's weird how out of sync I seem to be with the reviews of Ratchet and Clank. I like the characters and the art style and tech is impressive as f*** but the the actual game is so average.
Each world is a large open space that's difficult to navigate with nothing in terms of interesting locations. Other than the rail grinding the platforming is dull, and the combat is just alright.
This game isn't bad, it's just incredibly mediocre.

I see Katamari re-roll is on sale for the first time. Anyone played it? Does it still have the original's soundtrack? Bought it in the sale. Other than some sound effects being changed, the cutscene voices being Japanese with subtitles instead of English, and some slowdown in a few levels, it's the same as the original. The soundtrack's untouched.

So I started Miles Morales Sunday morning. By the end of Sunday, I was 85% completed of it and right at the final part of the story. Damn thing got its claws in me tight. {Spoiler}Also, I'm glad they got the stuff with the Tinkerer over with at the start because it really didn't have the same "This person is going bad but please don't go bad because I like them so much the original did.

The game seems to be wanting you to see her as at least kinda having a point in calling Miles out and to feel bad for her, but she's exactly as dishonest as he is while being much more destructive in being so, and despite her entire motivation being about losing her brother she seems to have absolutely zero qualms with endangering other people's relatives with her plans, including his mom, and her whole plan comes off like it would accomplish nothing but the exact opposite of what she supposedly wants. Boss fight's alright though.

Boss fight's alright though. {Spoiler} I do sort of agree, like I can sympathise with her in that sense but I sort of wish it was more of a mental breakdown of some kind leading to it rather than "I must do this now and be justified in doing it" because, then it kind of comes off a bit pro-corporate even if the intention wasn't that? Because I like the character in concept and the scene with them in the museum before the start of the final stage is actually really charming. But then also Prie being how she is...she'd know how badly the plan would go wrong? Like, I sort of wanted a bit more emotion from it rather than seeming robotic about the whole thing almost.
And...yeah, her saying Miles lied to her when, like, she didn't technically tell Miles she was the Tinkerer in the first place, he basically guessed is...it's a choice.
I haven't reached the actual fight yet but I'm curious about it.

Just finished Miles Morales. Not 100% sure what I think about the ending (I do like how the after credits scene went considering) but I am excited about what a full on sequel will look like with that first ending.
And even with that, world still feels alive and the side characters and missions are fun so yeah, good stuff.

I'm going to be hoping PS5s come out more before then because I'll get one of those for the Spider-Man sequel.

Still sort of weird this is technically Sony's first studio acquisition since Insomniac, I think. Especially considering the deals they're doing with other studios for 1st party IPs.

Apparently the PlayStation Japan Twitter account had a real whoopsy-doopsy when it came to doing their announcement tweet, as their first attempt at it had an image that had the Demon’s Souls knight between the lady from Returnal and Aloy and had Bluepoint Games’ logo instead of Housemarque’s making people now suspect they will announce finally buying Bluepoint later on too.

Finished off Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Pretty good: plenty of interesting ideas in there, combat becomes a bit samey, looks great and the atmosphere does its job well. {Spoiler} Early on you learn that every time you die, the darkness that is infecting you grows. It starts in your hand and if it makes it to your head, that's permadeath. Your save is deleted and you have to start again. This is the only game mechanic that your are explicitly informed of.
My post game reading informs me that... it's not true. It's the developers playing a genius mind game by having the part that you'll automatically believe lie to you.

Honestly, that would be a great purchase by Sony. Blueprint is the best at what they do and Sony have plenty of great old IPs that would benefit from a remake. Probably even more then a Nintendo game would. As for Housemarque, I'm not a huge fan of their style of games but they're still a great dev that will help diversify Sony's lineup. Plus, I'm sure Housemarque is happy for the financial security, no matter how brief it may be.

The best part is that people flipped their shit when they first learned of the mechanic, and with about five minutes of research they were made to be dummies.

Also, has to be said, they’ve pretty much developed primarily for Sony and were even a part of some platform launches so, like, it only makes sense to be a part of the network. It would be like if Nintendo announced tomorrow they were acquiring WayForward. You’d be going “They weren’t already?” at this point.

This isn't an exclusive so I'm not sure if it should be in this thread or Nintendo's but it seems as though Spike Chunsoft is teasing a Somnium Files sequel which YES GIMME GIVE IT TO ME NOW

Can we please have Uncharted The Lost Legacy on PS Plus next month? Nothing to do with the game (although I’m sure it’s good), I’m just tired of every month seeing speculation that it’s one of the upcoming free games.

Has Nintendo actually had WayForward do anything for them besides Advance Wars? Most of their stuff is multi-console. I'd say Platinum is the better example.
