Went to see if the PS+ monthly games had updated, ended up noticing that the entire Timesplitters trilogy has been there for a while. DLing now.

Modern games also are loaded with microtransactions (with intentionally unfun grinds to incentivize you to pay to skip them) and shipping with less content than ever. They should either launch at a lower price or they shouldn't be trying to nickle and dime you further. Also older games aren't really an apt comparison because the potential customer base is far bigger now than it was then. They don't need to sell as many copies to turn a profit, or at least they wouldn't if they'd do something about ballooning budgets. Which granted is an entertainment as a whole problem, not just games. I somewhat agree with microtransactions, but, i think it is also exaggerated. Looking at my list of games completed this year, none of them are full with microtransactions or pay to win mechanics and grinds and that sort of thing. Some have DLC, but they are either optional crap like costume packs (which don't impact the game at all, and if someone wants to pay $5 for a cheerleader costume... well, it's their money being wasted) or post-game additions that allow you to continue enjoying the game (The last DLC I bought was one of the Jurassic World Evolution 2 packs--it was worth it, five more dinosaurs to the park, bunch of new maps and a new campaign) But I guess it does depend on what type of games you play. I imagine multiplayer games are full of microtransaction bollocks. But I play solely single-player, and usually story and narrative-driven games, so I never really get effected by it. I also disagree with games having "less content than ever" Just check how long a game can take to complete today, compared to the 90s. FF7 was considered a long game at 36 hours. There are multiple games I have played in the PS4/PS5 generation which I have spent 100 hours on--Persona 5 for example, and more recently Baldur's Gate 3 which I clocked in well over 100 hours. but again, that could depend on the type of game that you play. So maybe some games, like FPS or sports games do have less content. I wouldn't really know because I dont play them. I disagree about the lack of content in sports games because WWE games have hours or content while I'm still playing MLB THE show and working my way through the programs and my concern is more and more games are feeling unfinished with releases

The only one I can really think of is No Man's Sky and Fallout 76. But I am not sure if 76 was unfinished, or if they were just braindead decisions (like not including NPCs initially) which were ammended in patches after complaints. I heard Cyberpunk had a lot of issues on release too. There are games with bugs and glitches, but that isn't really a new phenomena. Old games from 90s were riddled with bugs and glitches. The only truly game-breaking glitch I can recall from the PS5 era is Firewatch--where if you save at the beginning of the second to last level and close the game, you can never leave your Fire Tower. Still hasn't been patched I dont think. That was some bullshit.

Starfield felt empty to me at least Ah, I havent played that. I don't have X-Box. But I did hear it was nowhere as good as hyped and that the huge galaxy had very little to actually do and discover in it.

CEO: We've done Gex and Bubsy, what other obscure platformer no one remembers can we rerelease?
Exec: Zero The Kamikaze Squirrel?
CEO: Brilliant!

A pip-boy like set of galactic radio stations playing as you explored the planets.

The Aero the Acro-bat games recently were rereleased, makes sense that the spinoff would be as well.

WWE 2K24 has annoyed me with the MyStory or whatever its called.
Just that nonsense about having in-match goals like "hit your opponent with a weapon" or whatever and if you dont do them, you fail. Like, I pinned my opponent--so f***ing what if I didn't use a weapon. Makes me hesitate to play further in case each match is full of that crap.
The similar thing put me off career mode in FIFA, to get your contract renewed you had to complete a bunch of challengers. Didn't matter if you scored 30 goals in a season. If you didn't score 8 overhead kick goals or 10 header goals, you fail.

I can never do Luchadores because the game insists on removing their mask backstage.

And the fact that you can't skip cutscenes is unforgiveable, especially given the stories are set up to require multiple playthroughs to unlock everything. Also no clue why they decided to make the single hardest match in the game be the first one in the women's story. Oh yeah, start off requiring me to put a superheavyweight through a table when the default stats make it literally impossible to lift her, brilliant.

Huh, didn't think about how that would be a problem. Then again I always set weight detection to arcade as soon as I start one of these games. I suppose you could set the table outside, send the opponent to the apron and do a running attack to launch them. Still, it's an odd goal given the low stats like you said.

I can never do Luchadores because the game insists on removing their mask backstage.[/quote] My annoyance with CAW was that all the cool entrance robes and jackets that suited my wrestler were locked because of the hair I picked. Why is that even a thing? And it wasn't like I picked the massive mohawk or something. I just had a longish hair with bangs. But any cool robes, I had to remove my hair.

Yeah, I have no clue why they do this mutually exclusive parts shit, especially when you run into some weird issues like how some hairstyles and shoes conflict with each other. Everything clips like crazy in these games anyway, just let us use what we want.

So what mode is worth playing in 2k24?
I am going to drop MyRise before I waste any more time in it, since it seems you're gonna have those idiotic match goals crop up which sap the fun from it. Plus, I had a google, and apparently you are forced to play as someone with god awful ring attire called Psycho Sally, which doesnt that break the point of it being YourRise if you're playing as someone else?
Is MyGM Mode any good?

Even GM mode turns out to be full of bullshit, immediately with the draft.
So... the available wrestlers for draft and who I pick is LITERALLY who I have on my show? Really? The other wrestlers, who weren't available for draft or whatever aren't automaticlaly filled in on their brands. I literally have whichever of the 30 or so wrestlers available I cna afford to build a show around.
What bullshit... just let me take control of Smackdown with a full roster and have fun fantasy booking without filling it up with bullshit restrictions like that.

I just saw Palworld is on PS Store. That flew under the radar, I thought that was XBox Exclusive.
Is it any good? I know it is meant to be like Pokemon, but an "edgy" version where the Pokemon carry guns. Which I admit sounds stupid and puts me off.
Edit: Just saw it's "early access" so... f*** that. I bought Path of Titan early access and it is absolute gash. I love dinosaurs, a dinosaur RPG sounded fun but the world has nothing to do. Not even any herbivores to hunt. Early access games shouldn't be allowed up on PS Store. Or, at the very least, should have a massive disclaimer saying the game is early access and isn't complete.

Sony used to not allow early access games, wonder when that changed. As for Palworld, I'd wait on that. See how the lawsuit goes. Really do like the idea of being able to build a base, though.
