Oh neat. I tend to lose interest with wrestling games quickly lately so getting to give them a brief whirl with Plus is awesome. I just find it funny that both WWE and AEW's games were both available free on PS Plus at different points of the year.

What's funny is I own all three of this month's games but all on separate consoles; got 2K24 on PS5, Dead Space on Xbox, and DDLC on Switch.
Bares noting on that last one that they for some reason had to really badly censor a scene in the PS5 version. It's not a huge deal but it does undercut the sequence.

Chernobylite on PS Extra is worth a play.
I usually don't like survival style games because I usually end up thinking "what's the point" since there's often no real story or goals beyond crafting and building your base. But Chernobylite does have a goal and story--plus the ruins of Chernobyl is a great setting for a game.

One thing I have noticed weird with PS5 store, Sony is really reluctant to permanently drop the prices of old games.
I remember Order 1886 and realized I never actually played it. It is still 35 quid lmfao. I'm not paying that for a near 10 year old game. Should be permanently priced at 10 quid now. Then I might have bought it. I am sure there are numerus more old games which are overpriced.

Exist Archive, a relatively obscure RPG that's nearly ten years old, is still priced at $60 outside of sales and only drops to about $18 in sales. I bought it off Amazon years ago for about $5.

I bought it off Amazon years ago for about $5. It is ridiculous really. Like, is there anybody who is going to drop 35 quid on Order 1886 today? They might as well lower it to a tenner permanently and get the odd sale, from people like me, looking for something short, sweet and cheap to play. I know it'll go on sale, but I would have brought it today for a tenner--when it is next on sale, I might have other games I am playing or want to get instead. Actually does Order 1886 ever actually go on sale? I honestly can't recall seeing it on sale for a long time. I may have missed it though.

The Order was a PS+ game of the month once. Thatās the only reason I played it. It was good enough for what it was, but I absolutely wouldnāt pay full price for it.

I just assumed those high price points were there so they can highlight a bigger % cut when they are on sale every few weeks. Then if someone does pay full price it's a bonus.

Or if your hard drive dies and a game is delisted by the time you restore it, like what happened to me with my PS4 and PT.

I spent the entire ps4 generation (and early ps5) explaining why digital only was a dark future for gaming. pure greed is going to cause a massive crash for the industry as people are eventually going to stop buying games as much due to every new game being over priced (yes games cost a fortune to make, but Ā£60-Ā£70 per game is going too far.) people thought Ā£40 was too much for 360/ps3 games on launch days and I dont think we're far from ps5/xbox series x games being double that for a standard version of a game, and that is without getting into how most releases are a buggy mess at launch.

I actually don't think new games are overpriced. Considering how expensive they have been in the past. Super Mario when it was first released was $50 (I googled this and someone psoted their old receipt from the 90s on Reddit) I first started gaming with the PS1, and I remember new releases back then being 40 to 45 quid. So them being 60 quid now isn't much of an increase at all for nearly 30 years.

Modern games also are loaded with microtransactions (with intentionally unfun grinds to incentivize you to pay to skip them) and shipping with less content than ever. They should either launch at a lower price or they shouldn't be trying to nickle and dime you further. Also older games aren't really an apt comparison because the potential customer base is far bigger now than it was then. They don't need to sell as many copies to turn a profit, or at least they wouldn't if they'd do something about ballooning budgets. Which granted is an entertainment as a whole problem, not just games.

They don't need to sell as many copies to turn a profit, or at least they wouldn't if they'd do something about ballooning budgets. Which granted is an entertainment as a whole problem, not just games. I somewhat agree with microtransactions, but, i think it is also exaggerated. Looking at my list of games completed this year, none of them are full with microtransactions or pay to win mechanics and grinds and that sort of thing. Some have DLC, but they are either optional crap like costume packs (which don't impact the game at all, and if someone wants to pay $5 for a cheerleader costume... well, it's their money being wasted) or post-game additions that allow you to continue enjoying the game (The last DLC I bought was one of the Jurassic World Evolution 2 packs--it was worth it, five more dinosaurs to the park, bunch of new maps and a new campaign) But I guess it does depend on what type of games you play. I imagine multiplayer games are full of microtransaction bollocks. But I play solely single-player, and usually story and narrative-driven games, so I never really get effected by it. I also disagree with games having "less content than ever" Just check how long a game can take to complete today, compared to the 90s. FF7 was considered a long game at 36 hours. There are multiple games I have played in the PS4/PS5 generation which I have spent 100 hours on--Persona 5 for example, and more recently Baldur's Gate 3 which I clocked in well over 100 hours. but again, that could depend on the type of game that you play. So maybe some games, like FPS or sports games do have less content. I wouldn't really know because I dont play them.
