So, because I'm a narcissist, I was looking through some of my old posts. And I found this post I made about one Bobby Lashley in late April of last year.
"I seriously want to see anybody justify Lashley being brought back. What does he possibly offer? Name value? Dude's WWE run ended SEVEN YEARS AGO. Who could possibly care about Lashley now outside of his immediate family? He doesn't have good matches. He doesn't have a freaking storyline. He just pops up at random and beats some random heel by count-out. No follow-up, no build, nothing. He adds nothing to the product. How can you possibly justify paying this guy a dime to do anything when you are making cutbacks in several other places?"
Ok TNA. I was wrong. Lashley did turn out to be a good investment.

I remember when I said Lashley should win the title months before he did. I listed the reason why it should happened. And people went in on me for dare saying that. I pointed out the previous failed runs of Sabin and Magnus. How it couldn't be more damaging than EY's. Yet folks still reacted like I said I eat human flesh.

I never understood the hate for Lashley to be honest. He is athletic, can work against different styles of opponents, looks like a killer, and has credibility. I think some just took the bad mic skills a little too seriously. That can be hidden. If he showed up in WWE tomorrow with Heyman as his mouth piece, he'd be a star, IMO.

I mostly liked the addition of Lashley ironically, but I did quickly become a genuine fan and like Bad News said I would much prefer to see him in the World Title picture over the likes of Eric Young and Magnus. He's had a really good run so far.

I wasn't posting here back then so you'll have to take my word on this but I thought Lashley would make a great face and I feel the heel turn probably shouldn't have happened. Although Lashley did pull it off I've always thought Lashley's best role should be the way the WWE used him which was an ass kicking monster and TNA never did do that with him long term.
With Lashley you could have had your own version of Goldberg but of course TNA went for the dreaded heel turn.

I was a little iffy on him being brought back too. I didn't think it was a bad investment, just more unsure, but he's definitely turned out to be a great investment. As far as his mic skills, I wouldn't say they're bad, actually his delivery is fine, it's really only the sound of his voice that gets criticized now. Right now, with the exception of his voice(which he can't help), he's a complete package.

Too be fair to you, Lashley hadn't added a thing to wrestling since 2007 because his 2009 run was completely forgettable and it looked to be more of the same when he debuted and took out EC3 with a powerslam. I just thought it was going to be the same old boring face Lashley that rarely shows up and has his heart in MMA. Turns out I was wrong, too.
Lashley was the highlight of TNA 2014 for me. I was so pleasantly surprised by his heel turn and the quality of matches he had. Easily some of the best of his career and the whole year.

You're not the only one mate. I was in the same boat, and if I looked back over my posts I'd probably see the same level of discontent towards TNA's signing of Lashley. His heel turn was the best thing that ever happened to him. I've missed the last four Impact's or so meaning I haven't seen much of his face run so far. Is the guy still awesome or has turning him face ruined him?

I do understand the Lashley hate, at least general dislike, but he did good this run. It's a big plus to his overall career I think. Shut up and wrestle. Just admit you do and this will all be over. Well there was that one time in Bali that they told me it was monkey meat. "You eat one lousy foot and they call you a cannibal!"

The first time they brought him in, I'd only seen a little of his in ring work, from his time in the 'E. And I thought he was a typical Vince-pick - a big, muscular hoss who with the right level of promotion and protection (something the 'E has always been pretty decent at, but that TNA has never mastered) could be presented as a main eventer.
His ring work to that point had appeared passable, but sloppy looking.
To be fair though, at that stage, I don't think he'd had any serious competition, he'd just been fed jobbers and built up to look like a monster.
Once he arrived, and seemed to settle in TNA, and they put him in a feud with someone of the caliber of a Bobby Roode, I changed my mind considerably.

As much as I bash on TNA nowadays, the booking of Lashley has been far and away their best work. A silent giant who just destroys whatever is placed in front of him and, until his break from MVP, had someone who is much more capable in the promo department do his talking for him.

I've known Lashley had this inside him for years, I just never thought anyone would be smart enough to let it happen.
And then f***ing TNA of all people did it?

It'd have been interesting to see what he would've been like in WWE had he continued to progress/been booked similarly.

I disagree with faceturning him. He really developed as an in-ring heel and MVP as a great mouthpiece handled Lashley's promo issue. He's a solid in-ring worker but too bland now as a face.
