Great work that 98% of the audience will be unaware of. It will probably be mentioned in a throw away line during commentary. That's my gripe with all these App promos. Instead of playing it on the following RAW, you get Michael Cole poorly paraphrasing what the wrestler said during their next match. I guarantee Thursday/Monday is "Stardust said this past week on the Doubledyew Doubledyew E App that the 'Attitude' so to speak needs to get out, in reference to some of our veterans here in Doubledyew Doubledyew E." which does nothing for Cody. You want the audience to buy into him? Actually put HIM on TV speaking his own words rather than having them repeated by a middle-aged nerd.

I just want a Sami Zayn type. Can't we agree he'd at least be better than an Ambrose? I like Sami. Pretty much everyone likes Sami. But nobody wants to BE Sami. Likeable as he is, nobody sees the person they always wanted to be in a cheerful ginger Ska fan from French Canada. They see who they want to be in a surly thick jerk lashing out at everyone because someone else made it big before he did. They see who they want to be in a snarky jackass who screams from the mountaintop how anti-establishment he is. They see who they want to be in a freak of nature who can dead-weight throw anyone and everyone around like a rag doll, chortling gleefully all the while. They see who they want to be in the hippie who can not only tie everyone in knots, but also managed to 'score' what society views as the traditional 'hot chick'. It helps that he also has a little bit of "anti-establishment" in him. They see who they want to be in a (theoretically) unpredictable whirlwind of a man who walks into and out of situations without giving a single f*** and just does whatever he wants. I want to be a magic hillbilly with the ability to teleport, blow out LED lights, and brainwash people to carry around a chair for me.

No thanks I AND MOST LIKELY OTHERS do not want someone like CM Punk. Sami Zayn is the perfect face that everyone can get behind. I can get behind face Punk so long as he's not playing "revolutionary", the Pipe Bomb stuff never felt sincere to me. I loved him back in 2007-2009, when he was more of an Austin Aries type- a laid back guy who still generally disliked authority and was kinda cocky. But the whole "you're a kiss-ass!" nonsense was just so uuuuuugh... I'll take that Punk over Punk post MITB 2011.

I always knew Stardust had potential for this. I am dead serious saying that it was gonna get a lot further than just being Cody Rhodes.

Cody (excuse me, Stardust) should be Exhibit A when people talk about booking and true talent not being allowed to rise to the top. He's one of the best three or four people on the roster in-ring and on the mic in getting over an idea and playing an evolving character. No matter what he's given, he works it until it works. Yet he's one of whom it can truly be said is being buried ... not just a one-match result like most people usually whine about, but systematically over time. Not allowed to rise to the top? I totally agree. Buried? No. Cody isn't buried. Cody is pretty much one of the only non-former World Champion midcarders that has a somewhat stable and consistent spot. Buried on the roster with a ceiling of IMO less-deserving bodies piled up on top of him so he cannot be allowed to break through.

Not counting the long standing veterans of the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras, The only person above him that I'd consider less deserving is Reigns, and WWE is stuck on him so nothing can be done about that.

It'd be cool if this somehow bleeds over into the Bray vs Undertaker program.

Agree to disagree. Cody has gotten over gimmicks that really had no chance, while many of those who you apparently like better can't get over the idea that they even have a gimmick ... or they can do nothing with it to evolve and make people interested. Go watch his stuff from the JBL and Cole Show and you'll see he has more personality and more ability to project it than a ton of people on the roster. And he can hold his own in the ring with any of them.

It is a very good promo, but seemingly out of nowhere as far as a character motivation. That may be the point but his identity crisis thing doesn't seem to mesh with this But for once, I'm actually very excited to wait and see what happens If you look at the timeline, Cody was taking on the Authority and getting the biggest pops of his career. Then they bring in Goldust and Dusty to make it a family/'look at the people you used to know'/'you still got it' thing, and they become the focus. Cody's reduced to teaming with his brother rather than moving towards a main event career, and after being treated as the weak link of the team, goes into the Stardust persona to try and get the same adulation his brother gets, 'killing' Cody Rhodes as he's put it. It actually works incredibly well, all together.

They leave it up to Cole to fill in the blanks, which he does with all the passion of a trip to the post office. I'm a huge fan of Cody, there's no one else I'd be more glad to see as a main eventer. It's nice because I've been a fan of him from Legacy to now, and in that time he's shown so many different colors.

Cody's promo kind of reminded me of Rick Shapiro as Jerry on Lucky Louie: I want to be an East Coast blueblood Motorhead fanboy with a Frank Frazetta body and a wife who's even more diabolical than Maleficent. What about your Balding, Cross-Eyed, Bible-thumping friend who used to be a gigantic coke-head? Now I'm imagine this as a sitcom with HBK as Hunter's wacky next door neighbor who always has a get rich quick scheme.

Wait, this likely is leading to Big Show & Kane beating him...possibly even a renewed face turn & push for both... If it's any consolation, they would actually be pushed less as faces, likely. There's a shortage of heels, and as faces, they'd be less valuable, even if we are bored witless of them.
