Inspired by Magic knows Black Lives Matter and his thread about being wrong, I want to hear other times when you were wrong about something in TNA? whether it was how good an angle would be, a wrestler would turn out, an event being great, etc., I'm sure there's tonnes. For me, it's easily Scott Steiner. Who knew he would be so damn great?

I thought they couldn't f*** up a talent like Elijah Burke. Shows what I know.

I was wrong about Beer Money working as a tag team and Samoa Joe being the face of TNA.

I honest-to-god thought that Kurt Angle was going to make a difference and make TNA a real promotion.
I remember being actually shocked that it did almost nothing. Now I look back and laugh at how naive I was.

Just when I thought they could not possibly do anything to perk my interest-they put Brooke Tessmacher's ass back on tv.

I thought they'd never bring in Hogan, Bischoff, and co.

In 2006 I was like 14-15 years old and I saw on YouTube (That was the only way I could watch TNA at the time) that Kurt Angle had been announced at No Surrender 2006 and would be joining the company. I thought this was the move they needed to finally mount some offense against WWE and start chipping away at them. It sounds silly looking back but at that point TNA had a really solid product that tore the WWE to shreds and the general consensus everywhere was "They just need one guy to build around and they'll be in the hunt"
The one I take full blame for was in 2010. I was almost 19 on January 4th 2010 and I thought with Hogan and Bischoff coming in they'd be able to compete with WWE. Upon watching the show I saw Jeff Hardy debut (Who was a huge deal at the time) and Ric Flair also came out (Huge deal also) and I was confident they'd be able to compete with WWE and to be honest TNA probably could have done decently against the WWE if they had given anything for the fans to come back to but the audience they gained quickly disappeared week by week until they were pulling 0.5 against WWE losing approximately 1.2 million people from their debut. Glorious.

Robbie E, remember his debut, promos with Cookie that went on for ever and ever, some x-pac heat for want of a better term from an impact zone that at the time thought everything was awesome.
Still employed all these years later and is somewhat entertaining.

Apparently , I thought signing Bischoff was a great move and would help them start to nip at WWE's heels. I have no memory or saying it but damned if someone didn't link the thread in a look back and I was all for it. I blame not being on my meds.

If all of the knowledge that Bischoff possesses and all of his connections could come to TNA, it would be great. Except for the fact that it comes with Eric Bischoff.

I thought the Victory Road 2011 incident would be the end of the company. Not even the 'E would be stupid enough to let something like that happen on a PPV. And as a mega Hardy fan, for awhile it killed my interest in him. Why did NO ONE in the back call an audible and send someone else out there?
I also thought after a great show like Slammiversary 2012, that TNA was finally turning a corner, and they were starting to get it. Well....

Times when I was glad to be wrong:
-"A.J. Styles as a goofball heel in the Christian Coalition? This definitely won't be entertaining." -"Sadly, Samoa Joe will never recover from stupidly joining the Main Event Mafia." -"Motor City Machine Guns won't work." -"Beer Money? Stupid. Stop trying to recreate America's Most Wanted." -"Why would you have Christian turn on Sting? He was great as a face, heel Christian is played out." -"After Victory Road 2011, Jeff Hardy will never wrestle for TNA again." -"Turning Bobby Roode heel was dumb. Why would they take a hot face and turn him?"
Times when I was wrong and I wasn't happy about it:
-"Bad Influence will be Christopher Daniel's ticket to the main event." -"Samoa Joe will be the face of TNA." -"They'll never screw over A.J. Styles enough to make him leave." -"Hogan in TNA? This might be their chance..." -"Monty Brown will be a huge star." -"Austin Aries is going to be the face of TNA, they won't screw up another guy with huge potential." -"They won't screw up with Pope. No way."

Steiner and Lashely, yup. Scott seemed done due to the drop foot problem but actually managed to get physically together again and entertaining in a deranged way in TNA. While they booked Lashley mostly right (don't talk, wrestle) and he really put in the effort on the wrestling front.

I didn't have real strong opinions on it, but Lashley was a pleasant surprise. To an extent, MVP and EC3 have been, too, with EC3 doing better than I had expected and MVP mostly being worth bringing in, but I don't know if I'd go so far as to say I was wrong about them. That would imply more commitment, I guess.
I was wrong in that I honestly thought someone in TNA would end up in prison due to the very likely situation of drug use in the company, so I am wrong on that, along with not thinking Foley would wrestle for them. (I think he did pretty well, all things considered, and am actually glad he got a brief title run.)
I've probably been wrong about a lot of small things, and there have been times they've surprised me (Angle coming in, and them having the nards to hire Jeff Hardy with impending legal issues), but I would say the biggest surprise is them continuing to exist as a company when I thought they'd have closed their doors. Dixie's scummy behavior has made it very difficult for me to root for them to turn it around, but on the other hand, ROH and Lucha Underground, etc, aren't big enough to entirely fill in the vacuum left by their absence, and Jarrett's promotion is still an uncertainty. In the current climate, wrestling is healthier having TNA than not having it.

Oh yeah, I totally thought TNA had changed the ship around when they were awesome in 2012. That they were finally going to be the alternative on a large stage that we all wanted them to be.
By fast forward a year later, it was right back to some ol' dumb shit.

I kinda agree with Magic Ali. There's no specific incident, just that there were numerous times that I thought TNA would turn the corner completely, not just a couple of good Impacts in a row, but a sustained long term run. A couple years later, things are the same.

I thought's:
I thought they would rectify their Monty Brown screw-up by redeeming themselves with Joe. Then Angle had to come in and stop his momentum dead. I still say he's never recovered from that.
I thought that A.J. would be their Cena, in the version of everything they tried too hard to square-peg-round-hole Cena into A.J would fit effortlessly.
(in the same token) I thought A.J would never leave TNA.
I thought Beer Money would fail.
I thought it was a mistake turning Roode heel and not giving a long title reign to Storm.
I thought giving the title win to Aries over Roode and not giving it to Storm at Lockdown was a mistake (this is debateable, but I like Aries too and it worked out)
I thought the Bully Ray character wouldn't get over enough to be main event, let alone champion.
I thought Lashley was going to fail. I take TNA breaks, sometimes months at a time and then I binge watch. Like I did today. But when Lashley won the title I was actually reading positive things here on the forums (i know right?!) and thought to myself "no way this is going over well..it's Lashley..." but yeah I was wrong.
I thought that despite being very cute, Rockstar Spud was a complete waste of time. Glad I was wrong, dude is a natural in his role.
I thought Low-ki would never let his hair grow back in, because really, he looks awful with it.
