Is it wrong that I'm kinda not impressed with the song list right now?

Big news dump day. First off, 10 new songs have been accidentally announced early on RockBand.com: .38 Special – Caught Up in You Arctic Monkeys – Arabella The Both – Milwaukee Cake – Short Skirt/Long Jacket Little Big Town – Little White Church Lucius – Turn It Around The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – The Impression That I Get The Protomen – Light Up the Night Soundgarden – Superunknown Tijuana Sweetheart – Pistol Whipped After that, the disk only versions of Rock Band 4 were announced for pre-order. The Playstation 4 version will retail $59.99 USD and will “support most legacy Rock Band and third party wireless guitars and drums with no additional hardware”. The Xbox One version will retail for $79.99 USD as it will come with the legacy controller adapter that will “[support] up to four wireless Rock Band controllers simultaneously as well as many third party wireless instrument controllers for the Xbox 360″. Notes about the legacy controller adapter: - The adapter only supports wireless legacy guitar and drum controllers, but not other wired controllers - The Mad Catz Pro Drum Kit will be supported - Keyboards are not supported - Wired instruments using the MIDI box are not supported - The Fender Mustang Guitar is not supported - You can use a combination of native Rock Band 4 instruments, and legacy instruments - You will be able to buy the Legacy Adapter separately from the game bundle, with details about that coming closer to launch And the current list of compatible hardware*: *The Guitar Hero drum compatibility might be a typo as it's currently not listed on Mad Catz's compatibility site.

Hell yeah Gin Blossoms, but otherwise, I'm VERY underwhelmed by this setlist. Hopefully there's quite a bit more songs.

I was mega hyped when they first announced this, and I've gotten less and less so as they've announced each setlist. Went from being a must buy on day one to a wait until the price drops substantially like it's bound to do.

So I'm seriously starting to wonder what the purpose of the survey was. I can't imagine there was a huge demand for some of the bands in the game. The more I read the setlist, the closer I am getting to cancelling my preorder and waiting until the price drops.

I don't have a PS4 or Xbone yet, so I wasn't exactly in a rush to get RB4 anyway. And when I buy new RB games it's for the new game modes and engine updates and this won't be any different. But I can't say I like the setlist very much. There's a few good songs here and there, but it's pretty boring overall.
And blech Van Halen.

It's hilarious if you think about it
Rock Band 4 has good game but bad set list
Guitar Hero Live has good set list but bad game

Xbox.com has updated their store to include 12 new tracks which are listed as bundle only (one could assume their the digital pre-order bonus for Xbox One):
All That Remains – What If I Was Nothing BABYMETAL – Gimme Chocolate!! Earth, Wind & Fire – September Interpol – All the Rage Back Home Jefferson Starship – Jane Linkin Park – Rebellion (ft. Daron Malakian) Marilyn Manson – The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles Mastodon – High Road My Morning Jacket – One Big Holiday Pierce the Veil ft. Kellin Quinn – King for a Day “Weird Al” Yankovic – My Own Eyes The Wild Feathers – Backwoods Company

The more I read the setlist, the closer I am getting to cancelling my preorder and waiting until the price drops. I have to wonder if it was a licensing thing where Harmonix and record companies/bands' reps couldn't get it done. Usually Harmonix is really good about listening to what its fans want, so I can't imagine they'd put the survey out and pull a Current Day Blizzard and say "Nah, we know what's best for you" and ignore the results.

Is this the game that had a call for suggestions for songs from people? I'm glad the mountain of wild and new shit I sent in that'd i'd have loved to have seen in the game seems to have been passed over for an endless torrent of ass metal. It's good that Lightning Bolt made it in, but given their bass player works for Harmonix it isn;t much of a surprise

So I guess they weren't actually finished announcing artists for RB4 as they've revealed two more songs for the game:
U2 - Cedarwood Road U2 - I Will Follow
They've also announced that, like Van Halen, more U2 tracks will be made available as DLC after release.

I'm pretty sure they usually didn't give the full tracklist until after the game is released.

Yeah, you COULD argue it was a leverage tactic for holdout bands (the Pink Floyd's and the Led Zepplin's and the Sir Paul McCartney and his death grip on Buddy Holley), or it could be a "hey, we seriously never did consider that obscure 90s ska-core band, that COULD be fun. I wouldn't be shocked if Gin Blossoms came from a survey like this. Still, I've commit myself to the game (hell, bought an XBone JUST for it), so the DLC out, in addition to the DLC that will come out that we all know will be great, I'm sure the gameplay will sell me when I play it in a few weeks.

I'm pretty sure they usually didn't give the full tracklist until after the game is released. The last announcement of songs before U2 was billed at the "Full Setlist" and they have revealed the entire soundtrack before release in the past (RB2 at E3 2008).
