Lawler, Funk, Scott Hall for best, Sid and (if you can count him) Shane O' Mac for the worst, for me anyway.
I also always hated Steve Austin's punches from 97 on up. He almost always made no contact and you could tell he wasn't even making a fist most of the time, and I say this as the biggest Austin mark on the planet.
I always dug Hall and later Rocky's punches as they just looked cool and unique, even if they did seem unrealistic at times. Austin's just looked sloppy and ineffective.

Bret Hart's were nice as were Crush's with the way he would take aim and sort of jab at them.

I seem to recall Foley saying that the reason Funk's punches looked so good, was he wasn't pulling them. He'd just hit you.

I recall that now as well. Might have to take Funker off my list, although his real punches still looked great.
In video games at least Undertaker's slow as hell underhand throat thrust was the drizzling shits.

As an old school rasslin fan part of me loves the obvious fake punches with the big STOMPS like Road Dogg, DDP, Dusty Rhodes (especially with the windmill lead up) but I know there's other people who look at it in the modern era with UFC and MMA out there and just roll their eyes.

I watched WCW Sin last night and I certainly concur with Sid. I love Sid, but I was seething with rage at the ineptitude of them while I was watching last night.

I never liked Flairs, they never seemed to truly connect. Granted his specialty was chops but his punches seemed very soft and light

I was watching HHH v Cena from Mania 22 earlier and Cena's punches actually made me cringe.

I'll never get tired of Sid's slow motion wild roundhouse punches. They're ass but at least they're funny.
I always thought that Macho had some decent punches.

I remember Lance Storm said Dr. Death had the best worked punches of anyone he ever wrestled with. In the same column he also mentioned he'd let Hulk Hogan punch his children lol.
Also, after reading the OP I just wanted to say I really agree about Austin. I remember one time he was beating up Bret and the punches looked absolutely ridiculous. He was pummeling Bret but the punches looked like the kind a fun uncle would give his nephew while play fighting and joking around. That was a great feud but I remember those punches really took me out of it for a minute even back then.

Kane's are awesome. As much as I groan every time I see him currently every time he throws a punch it looks great. I always liked Austin's as well, they were kind of sloppy but I just put it down to his crazy brawling style. I always hated Rock's, yeah they were different but they just looked stupid in my view. Cena's can be pretty bad at times.

Bret looked like he was trying to punch your head off. JYD had credible looking shots.
As kids playing wrestler in the yard, we'd do Hogan punches. Grab the front bit of hair and punch your hand.

Jerry Lawler's always looked good. Even recently when he was in ring active, they were still quality.

I seem to recall Foley saying that the reason Funk's punches looked so good, was he wasn't pulling them. He'd just hit you. When I saw the title, first thing I thought of was Funk.
