Except Janey Briggs. She's got glasses. And a ponytail. Ugh, she's got paint on her overalls. What is that?

Catherine: I want you. Jake: Catherine that's disgusting! You're my sister. Catherine: Only by blood.
This movie was the best parody film to come out in a long time. I never got into the Scary Movie franchise, but this film cracked me up.

I never got into the Scary Movie franchise, but this film cracked me up. It's only fault was being a parody with the word "Movie" in the title. It caused it to be compared to the Scary Movie franchise and later those Seltzer/Friedberg "Movie" parodies. Not Another Teen Movie is brilliant and doesn't deserve to be dragged down to Seltzer/Friedberg's level by association. I consider it far closer to an homage than what you'd expect from a goofy parody. Unlike the others I've mentioned NATM comes across as corny, but respectful rather than moronic and malicious. Basically it's a tribute to John Hughes movies in the same way Shaun of the Dead was a tribute to George Romero movies.

NATM is a an interesting one in that the John Hughes parodies seem genuinely affectionate with the skewering of more recent teen movies having not quite venom, but definitely a hint of scorn.

I think it's amazing to think of how many people went on to become big names. Chris 'Captain America' Evans, Jamie Pressley, Josh Radnor and to a lesser extent Chyler Leigh.
And I also have to add that Chyler Leigh was and still is absolutely smoking.

It's fascinating how this movie pretty much over shadowed the main movie it was satirizing (She's all that).

Josh Radnor was in it? Was he the Duckie parody?

I had never seen She's All That before seeing this movie. After watching She's All That, I would have to say, that Not Another Teen Movie hit it perfectly.

Josh Radnor was in it? Was he the Duckie parody? Naw, he was the tour guide in the beginning and popped up during one of the parties with a line or two. He's impossible not to recognize watching it again after you've seen HIMYM, he was just unknown at the time.

Oh, can I help? I bet I could help get the prom dress . *Searches through pockets* , all I got is a card for Chalmer's Big and Tall Men's shop. It's a seven outlet chain in the Pacific Northwest. Great stuff. Unfortunately, it does us no good here.

I could make Janey Briggs prom queen. I'm Ferris Bueller, everyone loves me.
Hell I could make Carrie White prom queen.

Definitely doesn't get the credit it deserves because of the crap that followed. It and the first Scary Movie were actually damn funny, well-made parodies. Unfortunately the Wayans started the quickly-done, halfassed hack-work with Scary Movie 2 and Friedberg/Seltzer took their lead to bring the genre to a major low. I things are going to have to cool-off some now so that the genre can reboot.

I actually liked the first two Scary Movie films when they came out, but watching everything years later this one holds up way better. Also, I've seen this one much more than any of those movies. Also Who would've guessed that everyone in school was a professional dancer?

Who knew Randy Quaid wasn't actually acting? My life would be immensely improved if I knew for certain Randy Quaid went around calling people pumpkin t***s.

That's the thing about Not Another Teen Movie and the first Scary Movie is that unlike the Seltzer/Friedberg parodies, is that Scary Movie and NATM basically parodied two or three movies from their respective genres. Scary Movie is basically Scream (and has been noted by other posters before, parodying a meta horror movie like Scream is redundant) and to a lesser extent I Know What You Did Last Summer (with some quick gags directed at other horror movies. Like the "I'm so scared!" thing from Blair Witch). NATM as has been established is She's All That. But it also has touches of Varsity Blues, Cruel Intentions, and American Pie (with some gags thrown at other teen movies and the genres cliche, i.e. slow clap.) and that gives these two movies guide posts so that they have a (somewhat) coherent plot. As opposed to being a slapdash of jokes and not just that a slapdash of jokes that won't be relevant by the time the movie comes out (and often aren't even relevant to the genre of movie being parodied!)

I may be wrong, but this and the first Scary Movie were the first two "Movie" movies, at least in the modern era tif I recall correctly. The reason all those other movies were such turds is because they were just wannabes trying to get in on a successful formula of two films that were actually funny.
