How would any of you feel about this? I call this the "Raw after Mania" experience, and it's case and point for why I would not even be a little bit heartbroken if the WWE instituted a "no more signs" policy. They've been intrusive at every show I've gone to, especially the jabronis who bring signs to house shows, but this took it to a new level.

At the very least, there should be a sign code. Keep it out of the matches and big promos. Entrances and the like are fair game, but not during every single one of them, of course.

I have had people holding signs right in front of me, it has never been this intrusive. Doesn't even bother me, part of going to a wrestling show. In fact, back in the day, I took signs to wrestling shows. Pretty sure the camera man took these shots from an exaggerated angle for dramatic effect.

If your sign gets ripped out of your hands when you're blocking people's views, you should just have to deal with it. That should be the rule.

Signs are the worse. It's like chanting "we are awesome" that some people claim is disrespectful. Those signs are the same way. Trying to put yourself out there over whats happening in the ring. It's annoying and I hate fighting with fans who sit in front of me with them.
But not to sound too salty, they should only hold up signs when there is an entrance or when they tell you at the arena to get ready to pick up your signs.

If it's that much of an issue, maybe ask the sign holder about not being able to see?

You have to take the good with the bad.
From Jericho's book- one of the rules he learned from Jimmy Hart was- pay attention to who the signs are for- you can tell people who to cheer and who to boo, but you can't go to people's houses and make signs for them (no matter what any talking cats try to tell people they can.)
Considering how the biggest problem fans have with WWE is that fans don't believe WWE listens to what they want, if you take away all the signs, you can expect far more chants to happen- and at least guards can keep away the most brutal or offensive signs before they hit TV, they can't do that when chants are the problem (between the disdain fans already have for WWE, combined with natural problems that already exist, it's not hard to imagine we'll get chants, at the same low level as the worst of Raw's Monday, every week if signs get banned...)

I kind of miss the days in the late '90s where it seemed like EVERYONE had a sign, though I can imagine being at a show behind all that would get annoying. Just being at Mania and seeing how few signs there were in the crowd, it was kinda sad to me. Where's the PASSION??

If those signs are as large as the pictures are making them out to be, I think it's reasonable to have a size limit on signs. There's no reason someone's view should be that blocked.

Maybe have a designated sign area, or adopt a strict policy of not holding it up during matches. Still would be frustrating though as the entrances are a huge part of the show.
I've never been an attention seeking camera whore so I wouldn't really shed a tear if they outright banned signs from shows.

If they're going to censor them anyway, they might as well take them away.I would hate to spend money to see something and not be able to see it.

I like signs cause they're all different. The attitude era days when it seemed like everyone had a sign was pretty cool.

When I go to shows I feel a little bad when I stand up when certain wrestlers make an entrance or a promo is going on. I couldn't imagine bringing a sign to a show and putting it up over people's view.

I must be going to the right shows as I've never had issues with signs obstructing my view more than momentarily. They're typically held up for a moment when someone's entering or the camera pans over. Not a big deal. On the other hand, I've missed most of a show, because there were guys in front of me all easily over 6' that stood the whole time. A sign is usually fairly easy to see around for the minute or two it's up. I also get a ton of enjoyment out of picking out terrible spelling in the crowd, so my enjoyment of watching on tv would go down.

If you want to kill one of the last overt signs of positive fan engagement and goad the trolling fans into more and more negative chanting to amuse themselves, go right ahead and ban the signs.
The smarter thing to do if one truly wants to see the signs drop off somewhat is to have WWE, oh, I don't know, actually put on matches and feuds we might care about between wrestlers who might actually be able to do more than pose for Kevin Dunn's spank bank. Perhaps, if WWE slowly backed away from its stand that it's only "sports entertainment" and began playing up the more "official", "athletic contest" aspects that had always been part and parcel of pro wrestling, it may be possible to get audiences back into suspending disbelief and feeling that there's actually something at stake. You shut up the audiences during the matches by making damn sure that their eyes are peeled on what's going on in the ring.

Man I love signs. Nothing else to add, nothing really constructive to say.
I just love seeing signs.

From a watching on TV standpoint it's cool. From a sitting in the audience perspective, people who can bring signs can piss off.

If you get rid of signs how will people know that Roman is a wank pheasant?
