Good riddance. She can take the Bellas and Stephanie with her. This. While I can appreciate her for early days. Her run post raw GM was terrible and instant channel changer for me. She never really looked like she was giving a Shit about matches for past few years

Not surprising at all. I think the writing was on the wall over the last year or so. She was clearly unhappy and going through the motions to fulfill obligations. No doubt Punk was in her ear about things too. Her reaction to Stephanie on Twitter a few weeks ago was also telling.
I'll miss her at some point I imagine, she had her moments. But, I found her a bit one-dimensional in almost every respect. Definitely one of the better divas on the roster over the last 3-4 years, but I don't think that's saying much and I blame WWE for this more than any of the Divas besides Nattie, b/c I hate Nattie.
My guess? Her contract was up soon and I imagine WWE came at her with a lowball offer clearly hoping she said no. She said no, said Im done. The end. You can bet Stephanie wanted her gone after that tiff.

It really is an oddly worded statement. JR "retired". I think Brock might have as well back in 04. The weird part to me is "in ring competition in wwe". It sounds like she is either staying with the company and doing something else or is being "retired" from in ring competition because she is being let out of her deal early.

could be too that maybe her neck issues didn;t really go away when she came back so after giving it a shot for a couple months she figured enough's enough. i'll miss her antics, no more maria, eve and now aj- all my favorites have left now

I haven't read through this entire thread so I have no idea if this was mentioned already but my sis and I noticed that Paige appeared to be pretty sad at the end of their Wrestlemania match. She looked like she was trying not to cry when she got out of the ring and left AJ there. Now I guess we know why I'll miss her. Especially since the only other diva I care about right now isn't likely to get a push (Naomi).

And thus ends a six year career, with almost three years on top. Without a single person put over the entire time.

Actually, Naomi got the pin in the tag match on Raw and she won again on Smackdown with the Bellas on commentary, so she's seemingly being primed for a shot at Nikki at Extreme Rules

Except Paige at Summerslam, and every single one of her title rivals during her heel reign beat her clean multiple times in tags and non-title matches only for her to sneak a victory via cheating or opportunism at the pay-per-view. She had a losing record on TV in 2013 and after Kaitlyn never won a single title match fairly as a heel. Not saying she couldn't have been used better to put more people over, but people act like she was reign of terror Triple H or something. She was just like any other midcard heel champion: completely incapable of winning a fair fight. And when you consider she was never actually pushed as difficult to beat, how much rub would someone really get from beating her?

If she knew she was on her way out, which I'm guessing she did, she should have done the job at Wrestlemania, or at least let Paige get the victory for the team. I was kind of surprised she got the win for her team at Mania, but I figured it must be because the WWE figured she'd be around awhile longer and wanted to keep her happy. If they knew she was leaving, I'm sure they would have asked her to take a pin and lose on Raw the next night as well.

There's a lot of vinegar in this thread. People either really loved or hated her, but they reacted to her. She's like the female Cena.

I'm disappointed and relieved at the same time. I quite like AJ and consider myself a fan, but she's one of those wrestlers/celebrities whose fans get so ridiculous and obnoxious that they make it hard to like them. So it sucks that she's gone, but I hope it means things will get a lot less agressive.
...Until it all shifts onto Paige or Bayley.
I'll miss AJ and wish her the best, but I won't miss a lot of the bullshit she brings, through no fault of her own.
EDIT: I should also note that she gets a lot of undeserved hate as well. Hopefully time allows people to soften their stance and look back on her more fondly.

Just recently I was mocking One Direction fans.
Now, I feel their pain.

I will take comfort in the fact she retired undefeated at Wrestlemania.
