Well, she's always been divisive, she did some good stuff but was visibly frustrated by the limitations of what WWE do with women. She's basically accomplished everything she could in WWE and in recent times looked similar to Punk in his last days, visibly disinterested. You could predict her leaving soon but bowing out on a random 6 woman tag is a surprise. Maybe something happened that made her just say 'forget it, I'm gone'? Someone gave her a Z-pack. |

Maybe she is going to train talent like Sara Del Rey does, because they said in ring competition. Del Rey hasn't had a match since signing so maybe AJ will do the same type of things and train talent

Not surprised by the announcement but surprised by the timing. I guess she just wanted one last Mania payday - which is smart but I wouldn't think WWE would knowingly allow her to do that.
I enjoyed her a lot in 2010-2011 and then again while she was Divas Champion 2013-2014. The GM stuff and the frenemy stuff was awful dogshit though. Good for her getting out now though, she's accomplished everything she reasonably could do.

I'm sure he heard about it at least. It seems weird that she'd wrestle on Raw but then on SD, it's Naomi who looks like she's feuding with the Bellas if the decision wasn't made in between Raw and SD. Considering her Smackdown stuff came about based on her pinning Nikki on RAW, I'd say they knew before that went down. |

She was practically a part timer last year. Like she would wrestle in the title scene, take a break, comeback in the title scene, take a long break, comeback in the title/Wrestlemania scene. Retire. I'm sort of automatically preparing her return around SummerSlam and being inserted in the title scene again. She was stale as hell and the divas division felt fresh when it was Paige fighting whoever. Hell I'm pissed that Alicia Fox's crazy character was shelved for AJ's return. If she retired on her own terms good for her, made her money and retires pain free I'm happy. She had a good run being the face of the divas division for four years and she's a HOF'er. Her spot opens up a new callup and it lets someone else be the face of the Divas division and I'm looking forward to that

I'm sad for her fans that she's gone because reading through all this it's clear she meant a lot to a lot of people and it's never nice when one of your favourites is gone. I still remember as a kid how I felt when it became clear Bret Hart had left the WWE and I was devastated. Having said that I was never really a fan of hers. She had a reputation for being a good worker but she always seemed pretty sloppy to me, especially so in the last 18 months when she's been on auto pilot. I thought she was a pretty terrible babyface too, incredibly smarmy and annoying. Even though I was ultimately a fan of CM Punk I had the same issues with him whenever he was face and she seemed to share a lot of his traits. Fair play to her though, she was a lifelong fan and probably fulfilled a lot of her dreams and now she's getting out still healthy and young. This is too fair, conciliatory and even handed. Consider multiple posts ding-dong-the-witch-is-deading when someone you aren't a fan of leaves next time. |

She hasn't consistently been on the roster for about a year straight now. That, with the Twitter comment to Steph that clearly had some fire to it, and with the Punk/WWE legal issues, makes this not that surprising. Only thing that shocks me is how quickly this happened. I figured she'd at least ride out the end of her contract.
I guess she wore that Bailey shirt on Raw as one last nod to her before her eventual call-up.
Always liked AJ. Always thought her scary fans who revolved their life around her and called her "queen" the minute she tweeted something needed counseling. This changes nothing.
