Well in the end, I guess Jon Snow really did know nothing.

I thought Stannis's northern adventure would end tonight via Brienne. You can't slow burn Brienne and Stannis forever, it has to resolve. With new characters coming in, I can see action sequences built around them that I can't in the North. Other Northern thoughts. {Spoiler}I thought Davos and Jon talking bout Wildings would have led to the Pink Letter and Jon announcing he's leading the Wildings to deal with Ramsay and end my suffering at least.
Something about Melissandra to consider, maybe she's "Lady Stoneheart" and is actually dead and will give Jon the gift of life rather than resurrect him like Thoros did Beric. While I think Tyrion and Varys's King's Landing Redux will lead to good scenes, I don't care about Meereen enough to be invested in it. Arya: Yon, Meryn, look at me? Look at me. Whoops, sorry about that.

I love how they had that big dramatic thing where Sansa picked up the screwdriver a few episodes ago only to....drop it at the last minute.

For non-book readers, aside from a few story lines and characters that look to be added in Season 6, most of tonight is the last we've seen of some characters and even conclusions to some we haven't been able to read yet. We're all going to be in uncharted territory next year unless Martin releases Winds of Winter this winter.

I could see them giving a few characters the year off like they did with Bran if they're adding stuff from AFFC and ADWD.

Jon Snow at the end of that scene: "Damn, I really should've sent a raven to Ramsay and asked for his armor smith's name."

There was some good stuff in the Northern scenes but overall, it felt way too quick and messy to me.

I do love how Ramsay showed up just long enough to do his Snidely Whiplash evil deed of the day, and is never seen again.

I hate playing the "it wasn't like this in the books, waaaah" card, but what happened to Jon really makes a lot less sense here, given that multiple members of the Watch got to see firsthand what kind of threat the Walkers presented. I get that they've got time constraints, but a lot of this came off...yeah, I agree, "messy" is a good word.

In the books, {Spoiler}Jon was going to abandon to Watch to march against the Bolton's. Here though, it's all over their stupid grudge against the Wildlings. "**** the end of the world coming, I don't like them Wildlings!"
